Ahh man it has been pretty awesome up here (happy and sorry to say :p). Had to shoot in for work during the day for the weekend but just spent a few days camping down near St Arnaud. Haven't been down there much but think I'll start making a habit of it aye. Turns out the CBR goes better offroad than I thought too :o

Thanks very much! It is a lot of fun but it's debatable whether it's massively better than my Street Triple in terms of how and where I ride. The handling was nowhere near as nimble when I first bought it but a bit of attention to the suspension and changing the 50 profile OEM sport tyres to 55 profile sport tourers has made a big improvement.

The engine is quite lumpy at low revs and the forums have owners complaining about town commuting. It is quite lumpy but it doesn't bother me at all. Overall, it's great value for money but I guess it's a perfect illustration of it being rare to find the perfect bike. Have done 12000 km from new in the last 6 months and it still looks mint.

Shes a great circuit, got around her for a day, 4 different on track sessions and then classrooms for a bit, a few months after she got up and running, wifey did the same day with us on her Li Fan 250 Cruiser and had a little less fun , but did get the hang of the track and gave it a big tick.
Good on you Blackbird for making a go if it, nothing like going hard out over the hill to the start finish, then remembering, um? somehting i should be doing ABOUT HERE? oh yes, Brake, a bit anyways.

Thanks caseye! I'd only had the bike a couple of months and had brand new PR4's on it which turned blue d urging the course of the day. Biggest initial problem was doing shoulder checks whenever I wanted to pass :laugh: . Soon managed to stop that though!

Cheers Mark! I was surprised to see it feature as the photo must have been taken 4 or 5 years ago. Well spotted re: the pack! It came new with the Blackbird when I bought it in 2001 so had more than a bit of exposure to UV by the time it was transferred to the Triple. Still miss the Triumph and suggested that a new 765 Triple RS would make a nice present for our 45th wedding anniversary. You can imagine how well that went down. Off to Africa in a fortnight instead, mutter, grumble..... :nono:

T'was a great day out with Bass and oldguy, Paparoa/Oakleigh and twin bridges. Front caliper on Neil's Sprint had come loose which was spotted at the bridges, rear brake through to Kaikohe...interesting that he had just it serviced the day before the ride.

Loved that bike.

Bass has had several since the Sprint, and no longer living in your area. Another ride out with the Bass people (Big Bay) I had just had Ohlins stuff fitted to the bike and Neil was helping with the set up.

Have not seen John in years, he use to attend a lot of our rides and would take some great photo's.

Yes oldguy = John and Bass= Neil now living in the BOP. He is a wealth of knowledge on motorcycles, he entered into an email discussion with the Ohlins supplier on my behalf trying to ascertain and clarify a few things. I think he held a few 'fix it' nights in south Auckland back in the day for those who wanted to up-skill on their bike tinkering.
