Hi,
I just got my restricted licence.
I am contemplating either to get a new Piaggio Medley S 150 with ABS and disc brakes front and rear.
It also has start stop technology as well as plenty of underseat storage.
I only plan to ride around town mainly to work and doing some groceries.
Used scooters around the same age of the GPX cost about the same.
The GPX is parallel twin and has done 40k KM. Light and nimble and has lower seat height than the Medley which I prefer.
The GPX will also need a box to do similar tasks.
Both have about the same weight.
Appreciate any advise from sifus here.
Many thanks.

I haven't seen many Asian riders around New Plymouth.
Your choice of a new scooter or a used bike with 40,000Ks seems unnecessarily limited. If dealers will let you test ride on a restricted you could try other scooters/bikes and get a feel for the different options.
Have fun.

More importantly before we compare an apple to a bear.
What do you want to ride.... a scooter..... or a .......motorbike?
That will give you your answer.
Perhaps take both for a spin, see which one floats ya boat the most.
If you like something enough you will find ways for it to do the job required.
Have fun choosing.

A boat anchor that's done 61,000 kms? Next suggestion.

I take it you're an authority on them, what is the problem with them apart from the fact that they may not suit your sense of fashion? & no, it's not mine.
The dude can't decide between a scooter & a regular motorcycle.

I did consider Yamaha Nmax 125 with similar specs to the Piaggio but the yamaha dealer here didn't have one for me to test. So I dropped the idea earlier.
But then 125cc vs 150cc, with the about a similar weight, there is no guess which one is more powerful.
Maybe I should change the topic to Piaggio Medley vs Yamaha Nmax hahaa
For the GPX, I am also considering Suzuki GSX 250 invader. The latter has 4 cylinders 16valve DOHC which I quite like to explore but haven't tested any yet.
On another note, I have been riding mcycles since I was 16 so basically I have been riding over 25 years now (of course legally) but not in NZ as my foreign mcycle licence is not recognized in NZ. So my point is, I am not exactly a newbie to m/cyles but newbie in NZ maybe.
In the past I have had Yamaha RXZ 135, then Honda Ex5 100 and before I moved here had Honda Future 125 ,an awesome kapchai as we call it.The name kap (cub) and the suffix chai as in Honda Cub for this type of motorcye which is not exactly a scooter. Not many I see this type of moped (maybe the right type?) in NZ except for some 1960s and 70s Honda C70 and Honda C50.

Not sure Mat Oxley is *that* old. Years ago he did ride in GPs and he won a TT but now he rides a scooter. Guess he might know something you don't?

Personally. I would rather walk my groceries home or catch the bus and own the ninja.

ya probably already answered ya own question, if ya don't want to have to tuck ya skirt in to trousers to ride then ya should stick to the scoot.
