Morning Folks.

It's another lovely day down in the Capital (again). Don't believe me - Look, I've had breakfast
in the sun, I've done the dishes and have just finished doing the washing and hung it out, and
it's only 9:15am. Oh, and I even remembered to take my meds. So life's a veritable box of fluffies.

I'm sorry that yesterday's class was so short. It wasn't only that suggestion about launching
yourself off cliffs (post #332). As shocking as that was.

No, I had to go to church in the morning, and we went out in the afternoon as well, so I was
a little pressed for time. Yes, I had a lovely day out (thanks for asking).

And CasperNZ, I see you did as well. Post #389. Good to hear.

I mean:

- No ABS actuations
- Avoided the odd cow on the road
- Managed to stay upright in the brief shower that you encountered
- Avoided the tar bleed
- Avoided the dogs (well, it might just have been the time of day you were riding - they were
possibly having a little siesta in the afternoon sun - plus they were probably not out to get you !)
- Avoided the horse and rider, and got a cheery wave back
- Waved the faster riders past, and didn't feel the need to "up-the-pace" and try and catch them
after they had overtaken you and disappeared off into the distance.

Sounds like an absolutely idyllic afternoon out riding.

Actually, a little BlackBird informed me that you are actually quite a decent chap. He also told me
that you ride a yellow Hayabusa, and can hussle that machine around all those tight Coromandel
corners.

It's probably due to all those riding courses, and that IAM business that you do .... oh, and all
those YouTube clips. It's not that you're a lucky b@#$%&* at all ?

But just one little question, though. About the Hayabusa. Yellow ? Chicken Yellow ? Really ?
No, don't go and deny it. BlogSpot doesn't lie. It's up there for everyone to see.

Did you think one of those yellow Hi-Viz vests was not enough ? Oh well, each to their own.
No accounting for taste, I suppose. The world would be a dull place if we were all the same.

Well, I suppose at least they will see you coming..... 8-) That is, provided you keep to the
speed limit, and don't do any of that 'looming' business that IAM is always on about.

Sorry. Anyway, back to the main point of today's class.

Well, actually, if you don't mind, I'll make just one more little detour at this point. And then,
I promise, we'll get back on track.

It was while we were at church. Yes, I said a few prayers for you all while I was down on bended
knees. Yes, and even one for you-know-who.

Well, after the service had finished and we were standing around having a cup of tea and chatting
(as you do), God came over, tapped me on the shoulder, beckoned me over to the corner away from
the others, and had a quick word with me.

He said:

"Viking, you know those prayers you said this morning, and that list of souls you wanted me to save? "
"Yes ?", I said.
"Well, there might be a slight problem".
"What's that?", I enquired further.
"Well', he said, "I looked at the list and most of them, no problem. CasperNZ and George Foreman,
no problem, piece of the proverbial. Akzle, well, he's going to require a little more effort, but even
he should be fine. Even Katman. I mean, there's no point in being a supreme being if you don't use
your supreme powers every once in a while, now, is there?".
"But?", I asked.
"Well, it's the last one on your list. I'm sorry, but even I can't help you there. You're on your own
with that one. What is that 'F' word that Akzle uses all the time ?"
"FUBAR ? "
"Yes, that's one of them. But, yes, FUBAR. I'm sorry. Totally and irrevocably FUBAR".
"Well", I said, "Just do the best you can. Nobody can ask you for anything more. Really appreciate
your effort".

Well, I think it was God. I have to admit that I had forgotten to taken my meds before we went to
church (having been in such a hurry), and by that time, all the voices in my head were starting to
bicker and argue among themselves. A bit like here on KiwiBiker at times.

Once we had gotten home again, taken my tablets, had a cup of coffee and a little sit-down in the
sun, things soon settled down again nicely. And then we went out for the afternoon. Very pleasant.

The thing is, I was out all afternoon (we didn't get home until 5:30pm). You know something else.

My wife and I had a lovely candle-light dinner last night. The first time in ages. Sat in the soft
candle-light, and talked about things while we ate dinner together. It was really very nice.

Well, it was until the linesmen fixed the fault, and the power came back on again.

Anyway, I just haven't had time (as CasperNZ put it) "to summarise yesterday's crap ejaculation".

I mean, I've cast my eyes over the new postings on OAB's thread, and there were a few comments
from you-know-who that caught my eye in passing.

Like:

#368 - "Shit does not travel at a constant speed".

#373 - "Akzle is a lucky b@#$%&* as well" (even though he doesn't have a motorcycle at the moment).

#390 - "Life is full of hazards. You could get run over by a bus tomorrow". Yes, I know what you're
all thinking. It's that "Luck" thing again.

Well, the main point I wanted to make today is that I'm a little disappointed with some of you.

I went out for the afternoon (leaving you all in charge), and what did I find when I got back home
again, you'd gone and hosted a debate while I was away. And it lasted several hours. Far out !

But that wasn't the worst part. Oh No . It was your topic of choice. ABS ???

What were you chaps thinking? C'mon ! If ever there was an item that was well understood, and
didn't need any more debate, it was ABS ! F@#$% a duck !

I suppose you thought that you were on "safe ground" with that topic, and that by throwing in a
few facts, it would be an overwhelming win for you (and you-know-who might shut up for a while).
Well, that definitely was b@#$%&* wishful thinking on your parts.

And then, to make matters worse, because you'd called the debate, you went and let the opposition
team set the rules for the debate.

Now I've since read the fine print in the rules for the debate, and :

- "Allow the introduction of hearsay and unsubstantiated 'facts' ". Haven't you chaps been paying
attention on the Web recently, and seen all those comments about MSM and "alternative facts" ?

- "Not insist on the provision of verifiable data or references"

- "Allow the opposition to interject without warning"

- "Allow the opposition to change the topic without warning".

Again, what were you chaps thinking ? [ Shakes head ]

Anyway, the team of "Good and Enlightment" (which seemed to consist of Gremlin, Ocean1, NZSpokes,
SWBarnet, AllanB and MarkW) was lined up against the team of "Evil and Ignorance" (which consisted
just of you-know-who).

And that's another point.

I suppose you thought that just because you had the numbers in your favour, the debate would be
a push-over.

I mean, I know you're all nice chaps and obviously know your material (based on what you tabled
in OAB's thread). And under "normal circumstances", that should have been more than enough.

But these were not "normal circumstances" . You really were asking to get your a@#$% kicked.

Anyway, the debate went on, and on, and on (a bit like this thread) until finally MadBikeBoy pulled
out an absolute blinder in #394, and the team of "Good and Enlightment" came from behind to surge
past the post and score a resounding win.

Well done , MBB. A little bit late, but well done none the less. A win is a win.

For those of you who don't know what I mean, you'll just have to go to OAB's thread and read
it for yourselves.

Anyway, I hope that you've all learned your lesson, and don't fall for that one again.

You know, I have to say I was surprised that you-know-who had taken crushing defeat so well.

But No, I spoke far too soon.

Sure enough:

#397 - Back comes a reply to MBB's winner (well after the bell, mind you ). Look, the debate
is over - you LOST ! The judges decision is final.

Must ALWAYS have the last word.

Moi and I were talking online later, and I said there must be some condition or psychosis that
describes this desire to "always get the last word in".

I'll try and Google it later on today. I'll let you know what I found out.

And No, #397 wasn't the end of it. Oh No.

#398 - "More people are saved by protective gear than ABS". And not a single piece of data in
sight to justify this "alternative fact".

#401 - "Dog and Lemon Guide says ...... "
and
"My WOF guy says ....... "

#412 - Yes, CasperNZ, you're right. Deep breathing helps. A little. Go out for another ride today.
God knows You've earned it.

Continuing further down OAB's thread will only lead to ECT and medication. Or increased whisky
intake. Please be careful not to mix the two, as it can sometimes make you sleepy.

#416 - And now, just in, another riding safety tip.

-" Follow a car around bends, so that if sh#$% happens, that poor b@#$%&* wears it
and you're safe".
and
-"The two teachers on here might like to comment on that idea".

NO ! Don't fall for it. Don't even think about it. Gremlin, Walk away from the keyboard. Now !

You know, OAB, I really think it's about time that you posted a note on your thread that the
closing date and time for all submissions has passed, and then close the thread. Quickly !

Yes, I know it would be a lie, but everyone else on here does. And it would only be a very
small one.

You could even claim that you were "misunderstood". And once the thread was closed, well,
they wouldn't be able to add any comments and complain. Especially you-know-who.

What ? You can't close the thread ?

It's that "train wreck" thing again, isn't it ? You just can't look away. Yes, I understand.

Sigh !

Well, I did warn you all back on my first post (#56). I've done my best. I'm afraid you're all
on your own now.

As always, safe riding and ..... (yes, you know the rest).

P.S. (whisper) I'm actually surprised that you-know-who hasn't put it in the tagline for their
KB profile.

Well Mr Viking, it's thoroughly satisfying to see you're another proponent of not leaving one's health on two wheels merely to the angel of luck...

The headmaster we call Blackbird is a fine example of taking luck out of the equation, which suggests there is some merit to adopting a systematic approach to riding my Daytona Yellow Skoolbus. You see the yellow is there to remind me that everyday is a school day, so I accept that we never stop learning, thus we must endeavor to keep an open mind to allow new information to flow in. As opposed to merely spouting excrement from the incorrect orifice on ones body, no further explanation necessary one would think...:innocent:

It no longer causes me distress to read some of the inexplicably silly thoughts proffered by a certain KB member, for I've accepted that most of the new members will have sufficient capacity on their inbuilt bullshit detectors to remain safe. It is however immensely amusing to see many of my fellow KB members persist with their attempts to put a certain wayward member of the flock back on the straight and narrow.

I do find your summarized version of the ongoing debate mighty amusing, so top marks for adopting such an approach :clap::2thumbsup:2thumbsup:banana::banana:

This is the best part of KB. We can read your executive summary and completely miss the electric shock therapy (without the intended sanity occurring that is cass-wtf?

Casper. Bright Yellow? I think I'm calling you big bird from now on.

Got the bike out today. Rode to Kohimaramara. Looked at very nice yoga pants. Got smiles from some of the nice ladies wearing yoga pants. Got followed by a mufti for a while. He wasn't wearing yoga pants. And despite his best efforts, I was all legal and golden. Didn't visit a church. The alter I pray upon is the Church of the latter day GSXR improvements of the second coming of the Busa. I leave gifts for the God of speed in small broken parts and shredded tires. I prayed for lightning to hit Arkle, cass-wtf, and Ellipses. I then prayed for common sense to break out, trump ton be overthrown, Kellyanne to have a lobotomy, and for the unchecked immigration policy to change.

So far, no dice. God. Can you hear me?

Oooohhh yoghurt pants...they make me smile. Can also be the cause of accidents in the wrong location. Especially when dogs come running out, and if we don't examine from a suitable distance the proximity to the rear of the vehicle immediately ahead of us... Trumpton be a topic beyond my influence, but a source of amusement in much the same manner as the poster we no longer mention by name...a calamity in the making either way

The 3rd generation of the Busa is worth praying for, but not in a church mind you. Seems like wishful thinking, so breaking my brand allegiance might be the long term answer

Have you seen the Chips reboot? Hilarious scene involving yoga pants.

3rd Gen? Is there any talk of one?

I'm buying a 2017 GSXR1000RRRR (the Pirate edition) in a few weeks when I get back up to Straya. Been waiting for a good GSXR since 2005. Long time between drinks. I love the Gen 2, but she's a big boned girl, and I like skinny chicks. It has been the most capable mile muncher I've ever owned. I've done around 5,000k's in the last three months, and two of those months were unrideable due to cyclones. GSXR trips are usually measured in 20 minute increments.... On my fourth set of tyres in three months, it's remarkably easy on rears, but very hard on fronts.

The Gen 3 Busa is just a recurring rumour. Must say the new Gixxer thou is a sweet update, but I'm past that stage. Yeah the Busa is a hefty bus, yet it suits what I use it for.

Front tyre life is about the norm for this type of bike, I'm not worried about it myself.

CasperNZ,
Greetings. Good to hear from you, and that you have realised our mutual connection.

I have to say that I admire what Mr BlackBird has contributed re IAM (and continues
to contribute), as well as other Observers such as yourself. Well done and please
keep up the good work.

I have to admit that I was initially annoyed by you-know-who, simply because of:

-That person's injection of misleading or plain incorrect content into certain threads
on riding (regardless of their reason for doing so);
-Their ignorance and blatant criticism of NZ motorcycle riding schools.

For new riders, it is sometimes hard to get their hands on good reliable material re
certain aspects of riding (e.g. riding lines; corner entry speed; braking technique).

At least riding schools are now more available and better resourced and organised
than when I started riding.

New riders aren't helped by people (such as you-know-who) behaving in the way that
they do. Whether you-know-who does it for fun or from ignorance, it still makes no
difference.

I'm sure that you-know-who would disavow any personal responsibility if a new rider
followed their advice (?) and suffered injury. In fact, you-know-who seems to have
a distinct lack of willingness to accept any personal responsibility (even for their
own up-skilling).

After reading the reply to my initial postings on OAB's thread, I simply concluded
that you-know-who was trolling. It makes no matter whether I am right or wrong.

I probably should not have "fed the troll". While there was certainly a degree of
fun in writing up the "Learning All The Time" threads (and I did receive some good
feedback), I recognise trying to use humour to modify you-know-who's behaviour
ultimately has not been very effective.

So I'm going to take the same course of action as Mr BlackBird and put you-know-who
on Ignore (as well as cease feeding them).

Please realise that irrespective of the outcome, I won't stop smiling nor laughing
at people like you-know-who.

All for now.

Viking01.

PS. Best wishes, and as always, Safe Riding (and watch out for those damn dogs).

PPS. A small degree of literary licence was applied in the writing of the "Learning
All The Time" threads. The occasional 'fact' might have been manipulated slightly in
the pursuit of a good story.

caspernz
24th April 2017, 20:06
Thank you for your contribution Mr Viking. Yes I was informed of our mutual connection quite early, it was almost obvious in a way.

The outcome you've arrived at, putting you know who on ignore, is likely a widely practiced approach. It's almost certainly the best way to avoid listening to the same guff over and over, bit like a Back Street Boys LP being played ad infinitum. Or to quote another song bird, you can't solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.

It's all nice to allow ourselves the liberty of poking fun at you know who, but as it doesn't change the tune, why even bother with that? Yes I must admit, there are times when I can't help but have a giggle by indirectly feeding the troll.

One must thus rest assured that new riders will seek guidance, and ignore the waffle coming from you know who, so as to further their own skillset via a proven method and not relying purely on lady luck.

So now that the collective feeding session of the troll is over, let's resume our professional decorum once more.

Would be fun to meet at the AGM in due course.

Safe travelling Mr Viking :2thumbsup

Yeah, na. In Aus, cops pic on anything that isn't legal, and they sure as hell pick on loud bikes. So, it's going to stay stock. First time in 20 odd years. The last bike I owned with a stock pipe was an RG500.

And yes, it's the fucking ugliest can in the universe.

Suzuki seem to take a decade between the important updates. That said, even the S1000RR is getting old now. RSV4 is 96 in dog years.

I was going to ship my Hayabusa to Aus, and then I realised that I could only take one vehicle, so the bike is getting sold. I will use the thou for a lot of track days, that was the deciding factor. I'm a thou guy, but honestly, the Hayabusa is a better built and engineered bike. I'm surprised at how attached I am to it; once you adjust to the mass and factor that in when you're riding enthusiastically, it is surprisingly quick. In eats miles like nothing else. The fuel economy is phenomenal, my last thou was 120k's to a tank, this is significantly more.

It carries its weight quite low, a 200 section tyre has helped increase the steering head angle which masks the high CoG a little; but the result is that the front has a hard life.

If I can't sell it for good money, I'll just throw it into the warehouse and use it when I'm back here.

To me it's the GFC that has put a lot of stuff onto a slower path, but then Suzuki have never been quick to update/upgrade the Busa anyway. 2008 to 2012 consisted of nothing but BNG. In practical terms my 2013 is a dinosaur, even with Brembo and ABS. But yeah I agree with you on how you get attached to it, it'll never beat a thou around a track, but it wasn't meant for that. Covering big distances is what it does well.

Have fun with the new gixxer thou, it certainly has all the right credentials to do well on track.

Another fine day in the Capital (that's four in a row, but who's counting). Hope you have a good day, and
manage to get a ride in today.

Cheers

I apologise. I'm surprised you wrote the word safety on a Kiddiebiker thread. Seems oxymoronic somehow. While you're at it, can you explain the etiquette of waving at other motorcyclists?

MBB,
Greetings. Well, since you ask, safety covers a very wide area, and there are many different
pieces to the motorcycle safety jigsaw.

It's not restricted just to safety while you're out riding; it could equally include protecting
yourself against some of the stories that other riders might tell you when you meet online.

I mean, you can trust me. I would never lead you down the garden path with fanciful stories
about riding lines or ABS. Anyway, there are other people on this forum far better qualified
than me to do that.

The Etiquette of Waving at Other Motorcyclists?

Sorry, but I'm not going to fall from that one. I see what you're trying to do.

After a week of trying to help deal with our recent troll infestation, my "situation awareness"
radar has been cranked up to full sensitivity, so I know when I'm being baited.

Besides, there is already a Waving thread somewhere here on KB somewhere that you can
browse, if you really must waste an hour or more on a fine sunny day.

All I will say on the subject of waving is that I have always found it safer (did you see how
I brought that back into the conversation) to use a full complement of fingers, and not just
the customary two.

Hope that has helped.

If you really do need some more mis-information on this subject (indeed any subject), please
feel free to PM you-know-who, and I'm sure they'll soon be in contact and that you'll receive
plenty of free helpful advice.

Anyway, if you don't mind, I really do have to go. Things are still a little busy at the moment.

The queue of patients still needing counselling after this last week just doesn't seem to be
getting any shorter ..... 8-)

Anyway, nice talking with you again. As always, safe riding and .....

Cheers.

Morning All,
Just a little request to you Suzuki chaps. Would you mind awfully just getting a room and discussing your
Gixxer and Hayabusa porn and doing your dirty talking somewhere else ? It's just that this is a serious thread on

My sincerest apologies oh wise one. We will cease and desist in our attempt to hi-jack your safety biased thread away onto filthy topics such as the offerings of Mr Suzuki. You have to admit it was an appropriate segway though?

Now I must use the search function for the correct waving etiquette. This morning I waved at what looked like a Goldwing from a distance, yet by the time I raised my hand it materialized into a maxi scooter
You can see how this has me questioning my forward observation. How long is the waiting list for trauma counselling at your establishment?

Anyway, back to safety related issues Mr Viking

MBB,

I mean, you can trust me.

Cheers.

Yes, I can see that now. These are not the droids we're looking for. You can go now.

One other request. Since the waving thing is a no go. Can you explain the inner workings of a woman's mind. I think this has a bearing on my personal safety.

MBB,
This is definitely not your lucky day. With regard to your second question:

Even if I could, I fear that it would take too long to explain, and the logic could get
far too complicated. And like you, I too might start fearing for my personal safety.

My wife also advises that women do reserve the right to change the rules without
prior consultation, so even if I was right, I'd be wrong.

Let's just say there will be some things in life that Man will never fully comprehend,
and stick to riding motorcycles. It's probably simpler and safer.

Cheers

Your wife has sworn to uphold the secret. Omertà.
