Hi guys, I come from Czech Republic and I am a big fan and collector of old JAWA or CZ and would like to buy some here in Auckland/surroundings as well.
Anyone has any or knows somebody who would sell some?
I noticed at TradeMe some 2 old Jawa 250 in Whangarei, but they are not listed anymore and don't have contact details unfortunately.
BTW: If you have any issues with those bikes and would like to help, feel free to contact me, I will gladly help as much as I can :)
Cheers.

A mate somehow ended up with about 3 CZs. He took them all to the tip.
I helped him move them once. I came to the conclusion they were a communist plot to sink the countries of us imperialist scum by exporting the heaviest items possible till we eventually dropped below sea level.

Well some of them are really crappy, but that was whole Communist block :D
We were victims of USSR and their control over our production unfortunately :-/

Indeed :)
You know guys what just happened? I requested to join the FB group: "Bike Sale NZ" as recommended here and instead of accepting my request I was banned without any message or any explanation
I can check it when I use following link while I am logged into the FB. It says the page is not visible to me and while I am logged out its working fine https://www.facebook.com/groups/271793092960622/
Something like this never happened to me :eek5:

Are you including NZeta & Tatran scooters in your search for Jawa stuff?

I have owned both, but not recently.
I think NZeta were built to get around tough NZ import laws around that era.
NZeta are usually quite expensive, in NZ anyway. I guy I know sold a tidy one on TM a while back for $7000.
czech_guy,
you might find this of interest: NZeta Scooters (http://www.nzeta.com/)

Trekka or NZeta would be AWESOME, but I think it could go a bit out of my reach in terms of money.
Do you know about any for sale? Have just checked TradeMe and they are not very often overthere....

Last Trekka I saw was in a museum in TePuke.
When I visited what was then Czechoslovakia in the late 80's there were lots of cool vehicles.
I saw quite a few of these Tatras.

I had a couple of Zetor Tractors, tough as old boots (likely made from them)
they had a couple of intersting features such as a pto speed control (Not just the fine spline course spline output)
An onboard compressor for pumping up the tyres.
From what i understand the had to make the casting very thick and even painted the inside to make they oil tight.
They weighted about a ton more than a compartive ouput tractor
They also had seperate cylinders and i think wet sleeves.

i've got a couple of Nzeta's and a brand new body for when it's time to rebuild a decent one. from memory Peter Stone from Summers Kawasaki had something to do with the dairy board and did a deal allowing the importing of enough parts to build the bikes here, with a bit of local content, as much as they could make at the time. it was very difficult trading internationally, so as nz was selling dairy into checkeshoweveryousayit, they could buy so much out of that country.
same deal with the trekka i recall?
one of my bikes was a rural delivery bike up dargaville way
they're sought after by
scooter nutters
nz bike nutters
old vintage car people who can't lift big stuff and want a lightweight project,
at least that's what i found when i was hunting mine.
we'll see whn it's back on the road how much of a fanny nagnet it is...

The ladas also came in from the dairy board as the ruskies didn't have currency to pay for butter
From memory the People that used to bring in Tatra trucks also used to sell the Zetors
The Tatra trucks had a odd articulated rear suspension and a backbone chassis with a huge tipping bin that lasted forever

I can't remember for sure but i think they were air cooled.

Zetor and Tatra are still very popular in Czech, they are undestructable and few months ago I saw a discussion of truck drivers dreaming about their old Tatras, that nothing had such a good terrain qualities like that.
There is some Czechoslovakia Scifi TV Series, where they tried to turn Tatra over as part of an accident scene and they had to repeat it 3 times until they made it

That bicycle sure looked sinister.
They sure were rugged.
The Zetor tractors were abused as they were cheap yet they still lasted. Same with the Tatras
I had two Zetors and never managed to kill one.
They had a intersting power steering set up, with a sort of toggle switch on the steering ram that activated it when the steering arm pulled or pushed on it.
Its surprising it wasn't used more often on other tractors. ESP for converting them to power steering.

I need someone who has the pullers needed to disassemble my 250 engine as it has blown first gear.
