Jan 1 2018 means if you have a 1978 motorcycle its cheaper rego time.:woohoo:

Roll on 2035 when my Superlight is 40.....I wonder if the old folks home will have bike parking....:innocent:

Thank you for your query about the licensing on your vehicle.

The vehicle is eligable for cheaper licensing fees from 1st January on their 40th year. Therefore, the Ducati SD900, registration plate ***** will be eligable for cheaper licensing from 1 January 2018. 12 months licensing on the Ducati will then be $52.84.

...my '77, 400Four has been sitting waiting for this time for quite a while...I inadvertently scored about three square meters of space in my shed by moving some bigger woodworking tools to another new shed and as I was looking at the cleared area about 10pm last night I saw my old Honda taking up that space while it gets its tidy up and new bits that it may need to be my new, old ride...that was always going to be the plan and its been a long wait...right on cue as far as the calendar goes...the Goldwing is forty next year...

Yeah the missus wanted to know why my '76 BMW R90S was rego'd year round when I finished it 3 years ago. Why don't you wait until it's on cheap rego she asked? "Cause I want to RIDE IT...any time I like" was my answer. Bugger the cost. It's cheap now tho:banana::clap:

You can mount Triumphs in the kitchen, fill them with Olive oil and use to drizzle on salads, no tap required.

40+ years old was one of the criteria when looking for my next bike project, 30+ is vintage car club eligible but still costs the normal rate to register (licence for the pedants) for something that's probably going to be used intermittently. Having said that, I did sell the XJ550 for probably not enough, and it's not far off the 40, but it was just so fucking boring to ride.

Unfortunately anything that old is either fully functional and original or restored, which is expensive to buy, or a basket case like the current thing I've got and therefore a long way off being usable.

Should have kept one of the shitters I owned back in the day, would be ideal now.......

Say you had a 1981 motor bike with dead rego....
If you were to re-vin it/rego it.... would the
40 years start from the date it was re-vined
or from 1981..
