Worth about NZ$2500 in the box, slightly less assembled. Fortunately I have 3 now including one in box and another recently given to me from a friend's estate. Very proud to own these and I would jump at the chance to own another too

one question, why?
Because I can. One I bought many years ago from John Britten and I assembled it. The next I bought a few months later from John and left in box. A friend passed away recently and I inherited the 3rd. I would have more why not. I love the bike and the man's genius. Also I have much more Britten memorabilia, clothing etc, good fun and good memories

Arse :( I remember them being released and thinking I'm not paying that for a model - can't remember the release price but they appear to have gone up in value significantly.

IIRC I saw one at Modelcraft and Hobbies in Wellington when they were first released and it was about $250 - which was quite a lot then.

, i meant the price, seems you've got more interest in the gold mine you're sitting on than the items.

Bit of an insult, you figured this out all by yourself did you. Is it because I have knowledge of their worth. You are in fact 100% incorrect I am passionate about all great motorcycles and the Britten is the pinnacle. If I had to worry about a few thousand dollars of collectible models at my age life would be very sad. Should I also draw an unfair conclusion about you? perhaps based on your avatar...an extremely overweight man that should give up the donuts and pies?? No that just wouldn't be very nice would it.

mmm, donuts.
mmmmm Donuts...
interesting how so many people who own different stuff have an overinflated value of what they're worth, they're worth nowhere near that figure and overstating this drives prices up and people become more interested in the $ value than what they represent.
i've got a few Britten mementoes, sold a model recently in fact, and still have one.
you leaving your avatar blank says a lot about you too, if you want to play that game

I saw two pair of Barry Sheene's leathers on TV a few days ago, the new owners were friends of Sheenes ....one set was the 77' world championship leathers estimated between 20-30,000 pounds.. They also had a pair of his boots which were saved from being thrown in a skip.
The owners of the leathers will never sell them because of A: Their personal connection and B:Their new found knowledge of the value of the leathers.

I recently missed out on a kit which went for about US$1600 so the Kawa man is a lot closer to the real price than the fat man thinks he is.
Looks like Jellywrestler is going out of his way to be a cunt.
I too collect stuff, and will never sell at any price....so price becomes irrelevant. If I want stuff I buy it, end of. Not always about the value

I don't recall mentioning a price, just a principle
one kit selling for $2200 and now this clown says $2500, I brought a kit three years ago on the open trademe market for a little over $600nzd, I brought it for Guy Martin when he came to nz as i knew he was a big fan, he thanked me but he had just purchased one for 200 quid. I resold the kit i had for the same price six months later
my point is all the hype on what they're worth simply rubs the ego of the owners, and puts them out of the reach of a lot of people who really want them as the shit becomes a currency rather than a treasure.
maybe i should copy my kit and devalue them, let those who really want them for what they are have a real chance.

Those who know me (hopefully) think I'm a fairly generous person, I like to think I am. However I don't give a fuck what poor people think they deserve, apart from life necessities of course. If they want a Britten model, they pay more than any other person or they don't own it, simple. And your attitude stinks. Why the fuck should someone give up what they like just so another can enjoy it. I have a large collection of classic cars, should I sell them to make others happy? Fuck no

Only a mental midget measures wealth in material things :weird:

Maybe a midget in stature, but mental midget I'm not. 'The poor' I refer to are those adults in civilised countries healthy enough to work but always on the breadline and begrudging others 'Tall Poppy Syndrome' it is called. I have worked in the jungles of New Guinea and helped the natives for decades, interspersed with other business activities around the globe and within NZ. I have been through good and bad times financially and emotionally, like millions of others. Certainly not born with a silver spoon in my mouth either. Now at the end of my time, yes I'm dying, maybe a few months left, and yes becoming more cynical. Also I have no time for fuckwits anymore and speak my mind.
My cars, bikes properties etc I buy for me and my family, always have. Fact is I hide most stuff away from prying eyes and only a select few friends ever see it. That's my prerogative. So I have property in 6 different countries, 150 bikes and 170 cars....it's all for my family, the only true important thing I have. If you don't like my attitude, go fuck yourself

you're welcome to mine, i'll swap it for an emblem 'BigTwin' motorcycle tank, condition irrelevant, as long as it's useable as a pattern, then no money will change hands. i don't care what year as they're all similar enough

Theres a Britten at Te Papa, you can go see it anytime for free . You can get a reasonable coffee there too, and sit and stare for as long as it's open. Spend the $2k5 on a real bike.

...I have a small lead (pb) car that I found behind a skirting board in a grand old 120 year old house. It must have fallen down a gap between the board and the wall when it was a relatively new toy. From what I can see from its profile , as it is of a fairly single dimensional form, it seems to resemble a de Dion Bouton which I think was built in 1904...
...My question is, if I melted it down and cast a Britten from it, would it be worth more or less, or still just be a bit of lead...

I think it depends on the skill of the fisherman who uses it as a sinker, and the power of the magic contained in his grandmother's jawbone... not to mention the powerful juju of the dazzling auctioneer...
