It appears that a Honda VFR750 RC30 or RC45 are way out of my price range so I am looking for a tidy RVF400 (NC35) or VFR400 (NC30) as an alternative. Does anyone know of any for sale?

TM isn't that hard to navigate ;)

unfortunately, that's one of the less desirable Honda V4's. OP wants an NC30 or 35 which are the pick of the little ones. NC21 and 24 are very different motorcycles, sharing only basic architecture with the 30 and 35. Valve actuactio (early was tried and true screw and locknut with a camchain, later had gear driven cams and shim under bucket), early had 16 inch front and IIRC 18 inch rear wheels, later have 17 inch front and 18 inch rear - NC35 has 17 inch F and R. Fairings are different, blah blah. All driven by the white hot crucible of JDM small capacity race classes and licencing system.

OP - I sold a bunch of NC30 spares on tardme recently for basically nothing and have an NC30 in my garage which is a racebike with a blown motor. Prices have started to go up significantly and there is an NC35 on tardme in Castrol colours and the stealership have it listed at $9k. There was an NC30 privately in Queenstown I nearly bought a couple months back which was listed at $5k but I reckon could have been bought for $4k or $4500.

There was a very tidy one sold in the north island (again on tardme) for around $5k but super original.

I think just keep an eye out - something will turn up.

You read these and learn a bit about how to hot rod them :bleh:

Many thanks for the information and suggestions and I will keep an eye out on TM as suggested.

About 5 years back you could've got a RC45 locally for about $35k  but it got sold to fund the purchase of a NR750 ;)
B.P has another one but I doubt he'll let that go any time soon

There's 4 RC30s for sale in the UK at present

This is one which is a bit different....Knew Ducati had to do this with the 1st 916s sold in aussie for compliance reasons but didn't know the same sort of thing had been done to RC30s for other markets

Kat will be north of $10k now. Your Z1 is $28k plus for a Croz resto. More for a resto-mod. Good old stocker is $15k. Your CB750 (depending on condition/provenance/how the cases are cast) likely starts at $12k and goes north from there. Your V4's are at the beginning of the curve the other bikes are on. Time to buy them was five years ago.

Like property. A wise man once said to me: You know when the best time to buy property is? - Five years ago".

An early CB750 is lovely to have but not my choice, the Z1 all day long is the one...but getting expensive. The wire wheel Katana you could not pay me enough to add to my collection.

............ps property is and always will be a great investment....but it is not #1
