I have a Suzuki SV1000 and I've been looking at doing a GSXR inverted fork swap on it.
benefits seem to be less flex, better quality suspension, and better brakes.
looks like a straight swap using the triple tree and forks from a K4, the only modification required is to fit the dampener to the SV.
Supposedly all K4 and some K3 and K5 600, 750 and 1000 front ends are usable.
I was wondering if there's any difference between the forks height and performance between the different size bikes.
on That note I'm on the lookout for a K4 GSXR1000 front end....

Would make a good bike great! Plus, you don't need the steering damper...

I have heard that from a few people, and I don't think the current SV dampener is doing anything in its current state either.

Your sv has a dampener? Oh, are you talking about your elbows? Also, you can bolt a zx10 shock straight in that will raise the rear up a bit and give you a much more compliant ride.

Fwiw ive GSXR forks on my TL1000,required 1.5mm shims on bottom clamps, disc spacers (5mm from memory) and longer bolts for calipers to fit them on 320 discs.Really was worth doing. In most cases its also easier just to buy a GSXR front guard as well.

This is something I would like to do to my Bandit, but the drop yokes are very spendy.

Don't ya just chuck the whole front end on?

Nah, Sprot bike forks are about 30mm too short. And have to adapt the ABS sensor on. Need a drop crown to make it work and that is as much as the forks. My forks work ok but sending the rebound/mid valves down to RT to get some more mid turn hold as it eats front tyres.

well I've done the swap and ended up using a K7 GSXR1000 donor.
the difference is night and day.
no more front end bob just after the apex,
and the front end sticks like glue to the roads.
I'm using A1 engineering clipon risers cheap as chips from a wrecker because the factory clipons don't clear the fairing with room for my knuckles, but I may drop them back down slightly
I used the K7 because that was all there was available at the time.
anyone know where to find a K4 GSXR1000 steering head I'm all ears.
apart from that it was a very straight forward swap.

sorry about the massive delay.
Didn't see the thread reply notification email
-replaced steering head bearings with a handy tool I had made
-I also replaced the radiator, hoses and guards at the same time
the forks were rebuilt and I did the wheel bearings too so everything I was putting on was new at the time.
I have replaced the stem upper with a K4 since the picture. Puts the key lock back to the correct position

stem bearing install upper and lower.
a threaded rod
beveled brass cup upper and lower
steel backing
two bolts to lock the lower
simply tighten the upper bolt and pushes everything in to place without risking damaging with a hammer, and both seated flat with no dramas too.

new radiator and oil cooler guards
and the reason I replaced the radiator, old one was smashed around a fair bit.
some corners suspension would bottom out and fender extender impact the radiator
I couldn't see why but the angle is better with the GSXR forks and no risk of hitting new radiator.
the only issue with the build is the steer damper stops the steering from hitting the steering stops both sides.
Doesn't limit too much, just noticable when manoeuvering in a carpark.
would mean in a crash it will be the damper that takes the hit.
Currently looking at possibly putting a dogbone on one of the damper mounts, or simply finding one with more travel
