Well it's almost the end of the year and I still haven't got my birthday gift from myself, my 24th tattoo.
I'm still debating what to get? I have draw up a few ideas, was even thinking of getting some of my own flash work done..

Definately the back, I got my back done from a guy called Inia. Being a Pommie I wanted something done like a traditional Maori tattoo, there is also some meaning behind it for me. I will be adding to this as well. At the end of the day a Tattoo should have meaning to you whether it is in fun or of a serious nature. Either way show us it when you get it done. :niceone:

Wouldn't it make sense to get a tattoo where you could see it? Or am I missing something? All these teenies with ink on the small of their back. What's that all about?

And please don't get any branding done. As a chap with way too many skin grafts I go all queasy at the thought of deliberate mutilation.

I would go with get ya own art work done that way it's unique to you, no one else has that design. I only have 1 tat, its of a witch on her broomstick flying up to the full moon. The moon is yet to be done it's going to be a pentacle with celtic knotwork around the edge. I might have a picture of these. I dont have a good picture of my tat but I do have a picture that my tat is based upon. (Without the moon.)

Some people can live with regrets . . . I have three tats and do regret 2 of them, but at the time that I had them done I knew they were "forever". At the end of the day I dont really care what others think and I know that I can live with my mistake. After all its only cosmetic, doesn't change who I am or what I believe in.

I'm with Zed on this one (for myself). This was an instruction to the Israelites who were under the law. What others do is their own lookout.

Leviticus 19: 29 "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, NOR PRINT ANY MARKS UPON YOU: I AM THE LORD"

You gotta like it to live with it - at tat's for life after all. I know things change but if you've had 23 done so far then you're not likely gonna change your mind. I went to Roger's Tattoo Art, Cuba St in town and I've had nothing but positive responses. Um Question; Why go to Auckland (to get your back done)?

Yeah, I have designed all the work that I want to get done, or have got done:) So NO regrets here.

Well - seeing as I STILL haven't got mine done (though I am a lot closer to what I want)...

I say do the Aztec thing - if you need some designs, I've been doing aztec totems this year ... something different than the sun calendar or Quetzlcoatl...

Always have my own work done, cant imagine why anyone would just slap something on that doesnt have significance to them and their lives. Looking forward to designing another, enjoy whatever you get done mate.

14th October 2005, 12:26
hmm, for me a tattoo has to mean something to you, and you cant even has a hint of regret,

the best thing is to get something of life importance ie. family or other really important aspect.

if its a design get it drawen exactly how it will look on you, and put it somewhere where you can see it all the time, ie next to your bed, or on a mirror you always use..

after 6 months / 1 year you still like it, get it.

my only tattoo i have (as of yet) i wouldnt trade for anything, due to its significance.

Years ago I spent the afternoon watching a friend of mine have his back outlining done, he was pretty brave all in all, wanted the chick who was doing it to continue onto the colouring/shading after finishing the outlining, but man was he fucked about 10 minutes out from the end of the afternoon.

I admire body art work, I had a few, both inside ankles, the small of my back bears my lovers name (yes, Skyrider, he tells me he likes looking at it from that angle..:devil2: bit of an ego boost looking at your own name I suppose..)

In summary (lol) I think that you should get your back done NC, sounds like you have put a huge amount of thought into what your design is and that is great to see!! :headbang:

Thats a cool looking Tatt NC very original, i like it. Im getting my first one on Tuesday at 12. Its going to cover up the whole left hand side of my rib cage.

Im getting the family crest on there which can be traced back to the 1100's theres a few bit ands pieces im going to have changed such as the stuff under the visor and a thicker neck but this is pretty much it.
Probably will be my first and last tatt, cant see myself getting 24 !!!!! of them

I'm keen to get my first, just still deciding on exactly what I want, and who I want to do it. Have the ideas though its just a matter of getting someone to draw it up. I don't trust my own drawing skills. lol

I've been wanting ink ever since I got my first pimple. It's taken me 20 years and I've finally come up with something so original. Across my knuckles on one hand "LOVE" and "HATE" on the other.

Cool eh? I'm just deciding the colour.
