Sorry to hear and best of luck getting it back.

That is one absolutely beautiful machine you deserve a DB for keeping it so mint. The thieving bastards should be hung drawn and quartered.

The van was pulled over by Police this morning after a Norton enthusiast that saw the facebook post saw it being driven & followed it while directing Police to his location
The driver is currently being interviewed by Police, but at this stage no bike.

Yeah, nah! Unfortunately, these cunts know exactly what lies to tell to avoid charges and ongoing investigation. Hopefully this guy is a noob and lets it slip...

The van has stolen plates, what is the bet the van is stolen too? No doubt the cops have impounded at least in the interim...

FFS whats it coming to when the vermin just drive around with stolen plates in broad daylight stealing shit. Then know they were probably seen etc and didnt bother covering their tracks.. Has it really got this bad? Do they not care if they get caught or know that they are unlikely to get caught? FFS this pissed me off...

Im hoping for a good result. Mike is a decent bloke & a huge Norton enthusiast.
I sold him mine (not this one) recently & it couldn't have gone to a better home.

Said vermin is often too lazy to steal a matching pair too. Heard of one awhile ago that did a petrol driveoff then stopped just up the road for KFC... caught greasy handed lol....
You think that would be crime school 101, rapidly leave the immediate crime scene area...

I'm in a quiet street now but used to have lots of suspect looking things pull up outside, damn that cellphone law giving people a plausible excuse for loitering.
Anyway if it didn't flag as stolen i'd always check on carjam that plate matches vehicle model.

Great news. The bike was recovered from a central Tauranga house earlier today & is at the Tauranga Police Station to be picked up by the owner this afternoon.

Awesome stuff...

What a buncha twats thinking they could steal a bike like that unless they had some serious way of getting it overseas or something...

99% of Norton people in NZ would recognise it or the bits...

Ok, how does a stolen motorbike get recovered & no arrests are made?
I'm sure if it was found in my basement I'd have been arrested.
Seriously, what the fuckin fuck?

From the owner on AccesNorton:

Hi Guys, yes its back home in its rightful place.
A little worse for the experience, one indicator (flasher) lens hanging by its wire, ignition barrel smashed, flat battery, registration certificate(annual sticker) gone, both seat knobs gone, Air Hawk inflatable seat that I use when doing long rides gone.
Other than than all in tact .
It sounds like it was stolen to pay a debt , changed hands at least once, possibly twice and was found in a garage belonging to the father of the last person to get their greasy hands on it.
The father knew it was stolen after reading the Bay of Plenty Times article on Monday. Sounds like it was there since the day it was stolen.
The tenacious officer who carried out most of the ground work, said he just kept shaking trees, and was pleased at what fell out!!!!
Also it was all done without one search warrant being issued, he just kept shaking trees ,asking questions and door knocking every lead.
At one stage it ended up on the marae (Maori settlement) in Bethlehem (suburb of Tauranga).
I will be posting publically names and addresses once second or third person are arrested and been before the courts.
There has been a request from many members of the motorcycle community of all types for that info!!!!
In the current climate , unless other charges and previous convictions are raised, the f&**%$# will probably only get a slap on wrist.
Will keep you updated as more comes to hand.
Craig who followed the offending van and called in the law, gets a big thank you as did the lady who took the picks of the van and the young guy running the pony rides in the school yard close to the scene of the crime that first noticed unusual activity .
Thank you to you all.
Regards Mike

Good outcome...
Great to see so many people still cared and did the right thing , rather then the more common "I don't want to get involved"attitude.

Maybe if we all cared a bit more, we could deal with more fuck wits.

Excellent to hear a real cop did a great job ....slightly outside the norm

Great news :banana::clap:
These pricks have no respect for other peoples property or the fact that they are totally destroying 44 years of history. They are fucking maggots.
I'd love not to have to put my plates on hide, not to have to check the mirrors and do a loop round the block if someone follows me into my street if I've got the race bike or dirt bikes on the trailer same when the Z1R was mobile.

The cops did a good job on this occasion. Hopefully arrests forthcoming!!

This is the issue (it must be bloody frustrating for the cops to).

It effects all of us the courts should get their shit together, draw a line in the sand

They are missing the chunk of brain that separates civilised humans from cavemen.
Like the clowns that stole the first McIntosh Suzuki & chopped the motor out with a saw to put in a go kart or similar.
To take a mint Norton & drop it on its side, cover it in mud, souvineir random small easily removed shiny objects off it & damage it wilfully is evidence of a brain of someone who's ancestors only recently stopped making basic hand tools out of stone & hadn't discovered the concept of the wheel.

It’s called being a psychopath. The cunts know it is wrong and just don’t give a flying fck what others think. Making something illegal doesn’t change what they do, and punishment of the normal sort doesn’t generally have the effect it would on a normal person. I can’t decide if the answer lies on the mandatory rehab side of things (good day thinking) or put them in socks in the square (most other days) or douse the stocks in petrol and put a fire extinguisher just out of reach (today’s thoughts).

Glad the bike made it back. Win.

20th of October Tauranga District court.
Local bikers should attend and eyeball the barstard, follow him home and rob the fucker blind, then find the younger one (probably his son) and do the same, eye for a bike I say.

Well it seems like the courts are only willing to hand out wet bus ticket slaps. There need to be real consequences for these criminals.
