Hey everyone
We are a couple from Switzerland, who are riding our two Yamaha XT660 (I ride an R version and my boyfriend the Ténéré) towards New Zealand at the moment. At the moment we are in Indiaand will ship our bikes by the end of the year to your beautiful country. On the 21st of January we will fly into Auckland and have around 3 month to travel around before we head to Australia.
It would be great to catch up with some of you guys while we are on the road and we might have one or two questions about some good offroad tracks :corn:
In case you would like to check out what we did so far you can do so here:

Inspirational. How do you fund such a trip .
Thanks :) with a lot of hard work and not spending a lot of money at home (not going out for dinner, selling things we did not need and so on).
Now on the trip we try to live as cheap as possible so we camp a lot, maintain our bikes ourselfs and cook ourselfs too :) we did not earn great money at home. Martin is a carpenter and Im an IT specialist but worked in a travel agency for a change. So its managable without beeing rich ;)

Bikes and gear need to be as clean as possible (clean as new is good) to pass biosecurity check.

We have a spare bed (sofa-bed) in Auckland if you need somewhere to stay for a few days.
Would be good to compare stories etc. and can help out with route planning.
Send me a pm if you like.

My wife and I live in Tauranga, both ride bikes (as do lots of our friends) and have both travelled a fair bit. We have a spare room and room in the garage for the bikes as well as a decent amount of tools for maintenance. You are very welcome to come and stay with us [emoji3]

You guys sure know what you're doing! :)
Nice website too, most people rely on forums etc for their blogs so it's nice to see some effort put in!
Enjoy your trip and don't forget to update when you arrive, i'm sure you'll find answers to any questions you might have :)

Hi Guys, we are near Rotorua & you are welcome to come stay if we are home.
My partner Rosie & I have done a lot of offroad touring & camping around NZ so we should be able to give you some ideas for good places to go as you head south.
Definitely leave Northland for April, the weather is usually fairly good up there around then, while the South Island can be starting to get a few frosty mornings.
Cheers
Clint

Hey Clint and thanks so much, we will contact you as soon as we know when we will around Rotorua :) We are looking forward to some inputs from locals, as they always have some hidden gems they know about :sunny:
Yeah we will spend February up to mid March in the South and then head back up to the North Island for the rest of March and April before we ship to OZ. We hope we are a bit lucky with the weather as we hear that you get a lot of rain in summer and autumn. We have no problem with rain in general but if it rains for days it gets a bit uncomfi in the tent :cold:
