View Full Version : Image censoring

I have coded an option in your User CP to censor avatars that contain nudity. This requires that members specify that their avatar contains nudity when they upload it.

I have done the same for image attachments. Instead of the thumbnail, you will see a censor icon that will link to the image if you still wish to view it.

I do this because I feel people should be free to express themselves.

This does NOT mean that you can post porn. Nudity only and preferably motorbike related if you feel it is related to the subject of the thread.

They'll be censored. This is a work in progress and will take a couple of weeks before it is fully completed.

Thanks Spankme. I don't often look at the site at work as we're not supposed to view non-work-related sites, but some of the avatars made me feel uncomfortable. (not because I'm a prude, but because it was at work)

This option is now available for image attachments. When creating a new thread/post, after uploading images, hit Preview Post and you will see the censor checkbox next to each listed image.

If you know you have posted any images that may need to have the censor option checked for them, then please go to your User CP/attachments section to edit them and set the censor option. Thou I have a feeling that I am the only one that has posted nudy images.

Will this move lead to some knee-jerk reaction one day (seeing our government trends) that all image that does not contain nudity will be banned? :p

Well, I'm fed up with the avatar tits waving around all over the place so i welcome this move. I would be happy to see nudity banned altogether, except for nakid cickles. I mean, its not like theres a shortage on nudity on the internet...if thats what you want to look at. Onya Spankperson.

MSTRS, for the record, the NSW title was added AFTER I had my bitch, ok? I'm not so stupid as to have missed that...

Secondly, I admit that it is my problem that I haven't got the R rated system set up. But, I was relying on people's common sense to put NSFW in the title. With the R rated system, you have to actually open the picture before seeing what it is, where as how I have it now I can get a small preview which lets me decide whether I should bother (I'm on dial-up)

Whether or not I access KB at work is not really of any concern to you fellahs. I may do it during my lunch break, or after my day has finished so saying that it shouldn't be an issue is irrelevant. I don't even know what Bad Lieutenant is on about. Can you explain? I asked for them to put a NSFW warning in the title, so people at work, like I was, can see the warning and know not to open it. Make sense???

But mostly, Brian d'marge - I must admit to replying a little hastily. I don't accept that I made a "cock up" (as I didn't see the R rating, so it's not like I clicked anyway and got upset). Where I read KB, all of my work mates walk past me and can see the screen. Some are pretty nosy and take a look at what I'm reading now and then. Had they seen it, at the very least it would have been really embarassing. At worst I could have gotten into a fair bit of grief, since most employers are pretty strict on that rule. Oh, and our patients/clients can quite possibly see whats on the screen. So you can see why I was pretty annoyed, especially since it came up yesterday (the NSFW warning in titles).

So, you can see that I wasn't trying to imply you should keep your opinions to yourself, as you shouldn't. We want to hear what you have to say, so please keep it coming. MSTRS, thanks, but I don't need you to point that out to him on my behalf. I would have thought that by NOW most people know I'm not vindictive or supressive in my views.

So, apologies for the brash reply - another case of typing before thinking I guess? :grouphug: :niceone:
Cheers.
Dave.

Let me clarify something I've just realised.
I didn't open the picture after having read the thread, I was browsing in new posts and saw the thread title "Thought for the day" and clicked that. Once that opened, at the end of the post I saw the previews (small pics you click to get the big ones) and THAT is what I was annoyed at. I know they're only small, but they are still pictures.

Is it too much to ask to put NSFW in the title Crash? If it it, then I guess I'll just have to put the R rated thingiemajig on, but I've been fine up until now with it off.

Meh, I actually don't really care anymore, it's been a whole working day since :ride:

As a suggestion should there be an 'adult' checkbox that you can select when posting a message that flags the whole post as adult rather than just the images.

It would mean that when people sign up and wish not to view adult content (or are a minor) they can select some option and not have those types of posts show up at all - that way people at work, younguns and easily offended people wont keep getting upset.

Basically a simple way of flagging content.

take a chill pill stoney :D I was suggesting that productive people shouldnt be accessing the net for personal use during work thus exsposing themselves to naughty pictures, otherwise they wouldnt call it "work".
Anyhoo, why the hell is this still a topic ?? move on, nothing to see here except some grumpy mid week people :ride:

BadLieutenant, chill pill taken, but that is still not much help. I do a number of things at work, checking the net in my spare time is one of them :Punk:

I hope the thread starter of the other thread makes his way over here and reads my main reply. Don't want him to think I'm a complete loon
Anyway, it's another day now so like BL said, who cares :ride: :ride:

Yes I made it .. you did
A ....use some interesting words. B...... Bad rep me, ( as did others ) for something that should have been handled in a different way such asthe sentence ....... could you please try and use NWS as and others are at work .

Now I dont have to deal with that(the NWS issue) at work as it just doesnt happen ,,at our place ..Actually I work with women and 3 men and all love naughty pictures , AND that joke , but its at work,,, so the computers are not used for non work related
I use my PDA if I need to do private stuff ,,,

So Where I am coming from is , after reading the FAQ and following the instuctions I posted ..... ie I was unaware of NWS ...
Still the picture that contained Nudity were R rated and I would have thought that the middle picture was a dead give away that the other 2 R rated picture were infact R rated ....

All i ask of people is to 1; let me know in a witty and humourous way when MOngo done BAd
For example I am not sure how th R rated image was missed on my screen they are about an inch wide and an inch and a quarter long ?? I assumed that everyone elses setting are the same ...and if you are at work in a busy thoughfare and dont have it configured , ( is there 2 version of this programe??as was suggested ??)
2 Refrain from using derogatory language towards other ( I use the word idiot ,,but never anything else sometimes F$$%%& idiot )
3 Some thought put into replies ( I try to , and my time is VERY precious )

Finally It did give me something to ponder on today and in future I am aware of NWS and will use it as well

Firstly, and MOST importantly, I DID NOT bad rep you. When you reach 200 posts and 125 days as a member you will see that, unless you get too much rep before then and the list pushes it off.... I don't bad rep people, simple as that. (And when I rep new members I put my name after it anyway).

And on the "A" point, you are right. So like I said, sorry about that :niceone: I did what I was saying a little while back, and posted without thinking of the person on the other end. (If someone I had already met had posted that, I'd have replied differently, which is not very good  )

So, that is MY thought to ponder for today ;)

Cheers
Dave.

Riff- this Happyhappyjoyjoy Dust seems to have contaminated the site... niceness and amicability are spreading like wildfire, gentlemen are tipping their hats at each other, ladies exchanging pleasantries... children skipping about trilling little songs... what's more, there's a veritable plague of little Disney Bluebirds Of Happiness(tm) swirling about the place doing cute things with ribbons..
I can't take it any more.. make it STOP!
Where's the antidote? you know the stuff: Grimgrimmiserymisery Dust.... quickly please...

There are still a few members around who have avatars that should be censored. I never cared, it was good scenery, until I started having a quick browse of KB while at work. I'm not exactly worried being caught viewing the images, but I do use different computers at work and I don't want someone discovering those images in their temporary internet files.

I won't name names in this public thread, but if someone wants to know, just PM me. I know who they are. I wouldn't blame them for not thinking about it, one in particular has had the same avatar for a long time and probably doesn't look at it any more.

I'm not a pom actually, just so you know. It's on my profile that I'm here on my OE. Oh, and I'm not a whinger either, I like nudie images as much as any red blooded man... but there's no place for them on a workplace screen. :)

Actually, your old avatar was pretty cool, I thought. Still, the new one is cool as well, so I guess it all evens out in the end! You'd had the old one a while, so I guess you were ready for a change. :niceone:

Course there is. During lunchtime and for other short *ahem* breaks at work, I like to have a look through KB as I'm often eating lunch at my desk. It's considered acceptable at many workplaces I've been at (doing office admin temp work at the moment) to have a browse from time to time, as long as you're not visiting anything objectionable. And that's the catch. I like to be able to view KB at work without being caught out with nudity on my screen. Naked bikes, now that's another story!

Good idea so long as it is easy to use as I am a newbie here and nearly got into trouble the other day!!

Although I did get a message about an avatar which was not rude it was a provocative pc/laptop mouse but I guess because of the size it was difficult for people to see that the rude pic was only a wee mouse!!
