Returning member, new bike!

Heya team

A while ago I joined here, started with an mc17 cbr250r

Have had a few of em, sold up and bought a drz400sm, rode it for about a year, decided it wasn't me. Sold up, bought a yammy fz6r lams and put a fair whack of miles on it.

Finally passed my full license test, and now have a "real" bike

2013 triumph street triple R

My full license shortlist consisted of:
Daytona 675
Cbr600rr
R6
Street triple.

Found out very quickly that the crunched up seating position resulted in numb toes after about 10 mins riding, and total loss of feeling in feet and legs after about 30 mins on the 3 "sports" bikes, so I pulled the trigger on the street triple.

So far, loving it. Sounds phenominal, rides really nicely, very happy with the purchase.

Going to be spending some money with restorace motorcycles to get the suspension set up nicely for me, the bike has been well maintained but there's no documentation for it, so I'm probably going to have to rebuild / replace oil in the front shocks.

Saving money for a noisy exhaust, and I know it'll need the arrow exhaust tune flashed on to it.

Anyone got hookups for the tune? Or a "race bike" tune for the triple? Also, does anyone have an arrow muffler for the newer 675 street triples they don't want?

Glad to hear you have progressed and still riding.

Riding positions don’t suit everyone.

still treat the road and others on it with caution.

if you want to do long rides I suggest not getting a noisy exhaust, just one that may make the sound better. Your ears and head will thank you for it.

+1 to what Eldog said... take it easy for a bit, one of the riskiest times for a rider is right after a power upgrade. Very easy to find yourself firing into a corner too fast and then running out of options.

Loud pipes: generally overrated. That said I love Ducati bass...

I'd strongly suggest doing costings before getting too far into the upgrades. Obviously I don't know your budget but I remember that it came as a shock to me after years on a lightweight as to how much ongoings were once I moved up. Tyres, brake pads, discs, chain and sprocket sets, servicing, even oil changes, it all adds up fast if you start getting seriously into it and racking up the mileages.

We have a 16 street in the shed. If its a abs model you have to powercommander it as the ecu is locked. others can be flashed.

Im doing some work on forks, looks like 2.5w oil could be a fix.

MC17, interesting!

I've got 2 MC19 race bikes and a heap of my mates did their learner and provisional licences on MC19s and MC22s but whilst I've heard of MC17s, I've never actually seen one.. Are they common over in NZ?

Hang on - but you can go to the Triumph accessory book and shell out thousands for a Arrow slip on or full exhaust system for your new Triumph and the dealer runs a tune to suit that does not involve a powercommander.

Saw one with a Danmoto pipe recently - he had the GP can on his. He was running it without a db killer and it was .... loud..... Looked good on the triple - it suit the bike. The mounting strap is pretty basic and I think it would look spiffy with a weld on bracket at the back.

They are pretty much the cheapest of reasonable construction you will find - link below and note if you are ordering the db killer is a extra and see there note re O2 sensor.

Delkevic - that's who I was thinkg of.

IMO their quality is above Danmoto by quite a bit and they rated very well on a USA Honda site I frequented some years back. Their tri-oval is particuraly nice.

They also sell a full set of parts for their exhaust so you can repack or replace bits if required.

Yeah it's a 13 with abs, post ecu "lock" but the dealers can re-flash a "arrow exhaust" remap and I know there is a "race bike" map but again, dealer only.

Power Commander is a long way off.

I had a "black widow" full exhaust on my fz6r that I toured the South island with, with the baffles out it was obnoxiously loud, with the baffles in it was good for long distance. I ride with earplugs (of sorts) anyway, so an increase in noise is no issue.

May end up buying an arrow from eBay uk, seen em for as little as £160, which, adding freight, is still bloody cheap. And they look good.
