After a practice day down at manfeild I thought Black Ice had potental to be a race winner.I did a heap of research and have a plan of whats gotta be done.
The first thing to do was decent suspension.Ive been lucky enough to get a gsxr600 rear shock set already for about my weight.(thanks MR)
With the help of the team at Motohause this was fitted and the battery mount hacked away till it worked. The front end was restripped and the oil and shimms lightened a touch.still very spongy pud under brakes and wallowy but at least ridable.
Engine wise I've fitted the factory filter back in then I had the bike dyno'd and its putting out 62.8hp but the power curve dropps off steeply at 9200rpm so Ive got punch out of corners but run out of grunt pretty quickly.
Watch this space though Ive got a gsxr600 front end to go in there now to stiffen the front end a tadd.
Power wise I dunno. I want at least the same grunt the injected SV's have outa the box -Im hoping someday that a pretty box of bits will turn up --but thats at least a month away.

FROSTY

911 has very negative meaning--so the bike is now Officially Black Ice

Cool sounding name for your bike Tony, but a bit risky. Hope the bike does not prove to be as treacherous as it's name sake:thud:

Hey Frosty. Just caught up with this thread.
I was on the SV650 at the Fred Merkel Taupo thing with you. Good to hear you have gone SV for racing. I will do this summer what I should have done 2 summers ago and convert my SV into a race bike. See you around and hope to swop info.
Cheers

I've prepared my bike early for Taupo. New rear tyre (another Pilot Power) and fitted the racetail SVS sold me. Gone for the Obese Retard Bike look. Pissed off as I can't go riding this weekend now.

I hear those USD frontends really make the bike handle well so expect to be lapped at least twice by you considering the races are 6 laps long. You are going to be there right?

To protect the company concerned--I hold them in VERY high regard.
I'd rather not say. They have pulled out all the stops to rectify an easily made error. Service in this particular case is 110% -Sometimes Shit as we say Happens.
They have replaced all the damaged parts and as we speak my bike is running again. BUT --it desperately needs Dyno time to get the jetting sorted
-Its running like a hairy assed dog.
I need to get it to GP motorcycles because I missed my slot at AMPS due to the clack clack issue.

GSVR

Cool and it only took 12 mins.

Don't worry about how its running. With that 750 kit fitted the hot cams and the high comp pistons you won't be the lowest HP bike on the track.

FROSTY
4th November 2005, 17:47
er um NO --It was getting parts fitted on Monday--dyno tuesday ready for test riding at Pukie thursday- But as they say the best laid plans of mice and men......... BUT ITS FIXED NOW :niceone: :niceone: :niceone:

FROSTY

Well its been a couple of weeks and Ive had a couple of chances to ride the bike.
It seems to be running fine -but running very rich in the midrange.
The handling is a whole different matter -Put simply --it doesn't
But thats ok -time to strip out the front end and see whats in there

FROSTY
29th November 2005, 22:02
HOLEY CRAP BATMAN.
It seems the bottom tripple clamp on black ice is the wrong one. The shuddering I was feeling in the front end was the forks shuddering inside the triple clamps.
That and there was grey sludge for fork oil and springs 2 weights too light.
The back shock was set WAAY to low. All In all the bike was -or should have been Unridable
