View Full Version : WoF and Rego next to the plate

Hi riders, hope all of you are doing well.
I’m new here on the forum and NZ. Do you guys can give me any feedback related to how to sticky the WoF and Rego on a Honda DIO 110 scooter without been penalised (in terms of been not visible)? It’s been pretty much annoying having to stick these two stuck next to the plate. I have already paid for these two fees and requirements. So, it’s been in the NZ system. (It’s my understanding) why should I stick it on the back next to the plate.
I appreciate your help
Cheers

1. those are the rules
2. you're in Auckland and if the stickers aren't visible to a parking warden then you're likely to get a ticket
so, as has been suggested
buy some holders

Most bike shops, garages, etc will sell them. Or Supercheap Auto.

Get one of these http://www.scootling.co.nz/onlineshop/rego-holder.html or the larger version for the rego label.
Any Repco or Supercheap have them as well.

Weird I know, but the rules are different for each label.
The licence label has to be displayed in a position so as to be clearly visible, AND adjacent to the licence plate.
The WoF only has to be displayed in a position so as to be clearly visible.
The WoF can be displayed anywhere, so long as its clearly visible.
Each is covered by a different piece of legislation. Silly, but it's the rules.

This is my Dio. The rego sticker is in one of the (free) supplied holders that you can get from any testing place and the WoF sticker is sandwiched between two pieces of adhesive clear vinyl tape. Meets the legal requirements for both, and they remain secure and (WoF especially) weatherproof.

Mate that looks like Dogs balls.
I've my WOF on the reverse of the plate and rego is stuck to the undertail. No one has been bothered when stopped for 'documentation' checks.

Those that stop you for documentation checks already know before they get out of the car.

Exactly, you are only appeasing parking wardles.

But the rule that can be enforced is that they must be displayed ...

Nah - been those ones standing on side of road pulling over motorcycles only to check documentation and have a chat about safe riding :niceone: They can't see the plate from the front when they wave you over.
I missed the most recent one - they had about eight bikes pulled over and were to busy to flag me down. You know the drill - button off so it's quiet(ish) and cruise past like you are on your way to church.

Correct - this is enforced if you apply the attitude to them. Show some respect and you'll be fine.
Reminded me that just about every HD coming out of the local shop has the rego in a holder mounted at the front of the engine.

One of the feds (detectives) parked his Harley in the street outside work one day.
Got ticketed by a council parking warden for not displaying the licence label as required.
It was mounted on the front frame member, ahead of the engine.
Fed was all raging about the ticket. Trouble is, he was wrong. The ticket was right.
Local HD shop always attaches them like that.

You Sir have a very valid point there.

Very true. With Rego and WoF reminders sent normally now there's not even a use for those on-bike labels to remind the rider to action them.

It doesn't matter where on the bike the labels are fitted so long as they are both clearly visible, it is annoying to to have to search for them. Parking officers will look around the bike but only so much. My ll is on the swing arm which keeps it fairly clean and easy to read.

Do the jobsworth parking hardons photograph the entire vehicle before claiming it lacks documentation? Do they submit said photos as forensic evidence supporting their outrageous claims?
I guess not.
So, in the unlikely event of being sent an official extortion demand, challenge the ticket with a photograph of the allegedly offending article no longer offending.
It's a load of bollox. They are taking the piss, so give em piss.
