I had a big scare yesterday when a car played tag with my leg so I went into motomail today to buy proper pants and riding boots. (Rev'It brand) also while I was there I bought some other stuff including proper nice motul oil.... when I got back to the office I discovered that 4L of oil had cost me $100!
do you guys (2 smokers) pay that much for your oil or get petrol station stuff

No dude, I never payed more than about $30 for 4L of Spectro. Even the fully synthetic version costs less that $50 from memory. The stuff works fine and I was reccommended to use it over other more expensive brands. Maybe take a look at epinions.com to see if there is a category for lubricants or else cast around the web for info.

sorry no thats my bad.
although I might be heading down labour weekend. depends on my riches, and if I can rent (read: borrow) a bike for seeing the sights. its all wishy washy at the moment.
I cant decide yet, should I test it out or get it refunded.

A hundred dollars seems a bit excessive to me, I went to a couple of different shops and they recommended Spectro 4 aswell, cost me $31 for the 4 litre. ie you could get 12 litres and still have enough left over for a handle at the local.
If you want synthetic get Spectro gold it will still be half of the price.

I think you other guys are talking about 4 stroke oil, he bought 2 stroke. Yes mate that sounds about right for 4L of the stuff. For me race bike its $28 a litre (and that is considered cheap). For a 2 stroke you can never get too good an oil for a 2 stroke. It may sound expensive now but you will save in the future (be able to run the engine longer without a rebuild).
Good to see you're using the good oil, stay away from the cheap stuff that you get from the servo.

currently I've used "castrol TTS", and "shell advance SX". Been looking for 4L shell VSX for a while now.
Two strokes are the devil!

Ah I see, you say premix? is that an RG 'V' thing? Or is mine a premix as well? Not sure on the terminology here. While Im bleating, I hate how some servos only have lawnmower juice.

Sawyers always have a good stock of 4L bottles of Shell VSX for $60ish. I'm sure if you gave them a call they'd hook you up. What's up with paying close to $30 a litre for motul?! There's no way it's going to give you that much performance or extra protection over the cheaper brands. Sounds like far too many people are suckers for marketing.

I must defend the shop here (as always)
Thats about normal for Motul Fully syn oil.
If you want a cheap oil,buy a cheap oil (i am not directing this at you Pyro, am making a general statement).
You will notice the difference...
smoother running, sounds better, LESS SMOKE!
Its up to you end the end.
