i always find amuse how they say "CAR crashes into..." like there wasn't supposed to be a human in control of the fucken thing.
i also find amuse how council say "yay don't speed and SAFETYY!!110111!!!!"
full credit to the man. build it 3 high and embed it with iron spikes and contact explosives.
(i assume this is a residential zone, sub 80km/h - if you can't control of your vehicle then you should not to have it.)
lucky i live where if they crash, i have the tractor... i can pull them out... or bury them <_<
if someone crashed in my concrete I would sue them for damages to my concrete.

There is an intersection in Cromwell (I lived there for a few years) where a car went through a give way ... narrowly missing another car, but went though a fence and took the corner of his house off.
He built a reinforced concrete post type fence ... and a few months later a car drove into it. The fence survived unscathed ... as did the driver.
Seatbelts saved his ass ...
The actual house ...

Excellent work that man!
Cuntcil are not interested in doing anything until they have formed a sub-committee, then commissioned "consultants" to do a study in that area. That will have to be followed by another consultancy doing a peer review of the first one, at which time tenders will be put out for contractors to "do something" --- normally involving putting up a signpost.
Yup. Fuckin' big concrete blocks with steel spikes on the bastards!
Even better is if the concrete blocks are on top of some council members.

You missed that the residents association will complain they were left out of the decision making process....and ask for the blocks to be removed.
But if jelly says it's a rough neighbourhood it must be pretty rugged...So I'd guess no residents assn.
I've seen the corner on TV and IMO he did the right thing putting the blocks there. I would have too.

had a neighbor who's letter box kept getting targeted (Rural) and bowled over, knew who was doing it but couldn't prove it so he put a big paice of concrete in the ground with a piece of railway iron for the post, council made him take it out because it might do some serious damage if a vehicle hit it, kinda thought that was the point

Sorry dude gotta disagree. Whoever is responsible has done nothing, so he came up with his own solution. He should not have had to, but TPTB were missing in action. The fact that lemmings are still crashing there shows he was right to do something.
Better the congenital idiots write themselves, or their cars, off than that they torpedo his house and take an innocent life.

Thats funny. Waddington Drive starts of as "lower socioeconomic" (ex state house, decile 1 type area) but towards the southern end (NaeNae road) turns into a hoity toity snob city mcmansions residential zone. If the corner in question was the next corner towards the better end the council would be right on top of putting up "traffic calming / resident protection" measures.

Been out to end of Coast Road and to the Waihine Monument (could it have been bigger?) then Parliament, out through Karori to Makara Beach (raining all the way)and up the coast to Cannons Creek, where I got surrounded by the most interesting bunch of people you could want to meet. and further on up to Fielding via Paekakariki Hill road
The bike sounding like a Harley, definitely helped me get away.
