All motorcyclists riding the Dunstan Trail to 2018 BrassMonkey Rally must not be pissed, obey all road rules, and bikes must have current licence (rego) and wof. There is no road escort this year for non compliant bikes, quads or four wheelers.
Apparently last year the antics of some riders caused them to be breathtested by the police and some faced dic charges. Three separate accidents caused 3 riders to be airlifted to hospital from the trail.
Because of those incidents that era is over.

yup the normal story, the antics of a few destroy it for the rest. gonna be a lot of pissed off people slagging off the cops but lets face it the authorities have turned a blind eye and in fact have helped these guys get through with unregistered vehicles on a public road and that privilege has been seriously abused so they have had to say they can no longer turn a blind eye.

a real shame

Revenue collecting, Nanny State, blah blah blah.

Actually i thought harmful digital communications was the big south island crime, maybe Cassina could turn it into a group ride thing.

To be fair, last year, at the time, I had not heard a whisper of the antics, rescues etc. But there was growing discontent from rally goers about those that had legal bikes and those that didn't need to.
But thats the thing about rallying, spending huge amounts of cash to camp like the destitute and homeless.
