I saw a guy on a twist and go scooter yesterday wearing his helmet half pulled onto his head and angled back with the chin straps flying in the wind past his ears. Hillarious

Fairly sure he'd get ticketed for wearing it that way if anybody did care.

You should - you pay a FUCK load of ACC on your rego for retards who don't wear protective gear correctly or at all to fall off and get fixed up for free.
Que the personal freedom brigade telling me to F-off they can ride in a swimsuit if they like.

Lighten up, FFS.
I have noticed over the years that the wearing or not wearing of protective gear is a very volatile subject on KB.
Me - a all the gear rider. And I object to paying for roadrash skin grafts on some Flying-eagle T-shit wearing motorcyclists.
I too am entitled to a opinion.
I'm really happy for government to make ACC payments relative to the individual situation - crash your car not wearing a seat belt - no free fix-up, fall off your sickle without gloves, you pay to fix your hands, you get my drift.
It will never happen. The current government is too busy grooming young sex offenders to care. The previous tried privatizing ACC years back and it was shit - most claims denied.
I still find it very funny that ACC will cover me if I stand on a bee and get stung.

I took multiple hits after disturbing a wasp's nest while gardening last week. All OK by way of ACC.
This is probably a repost but the guy looked (a bit) like this. Asian, or Indian or some dark skinned race (THAT'S RACIST!) He was right out of the Internet like a Meme but not quite out of Mumbai...

Somewhere around Blenheim Rd perchance ? The "school" in the old International Harvester building looks like Mumbai in the rush hour at times.
And now we're seeing protests by the pedal pushers who want the convenience of no helmets while still getting free ACC coverage....
If they get that, I'm agitating for the old "no helmet under 50kph" rule...

I saw a good one the other week.
Guy wasn't wearing a helmet. It wouldn't have fit over his turban.
(no other safety gear, either, but, I guess, a good Darwin ad).

We get a lot of that here in the Philippines. Traffic enforcers do nothing. After all, they are wearing them. Sometimes on their elbows too. They do get ticketed for that though. In Metro Manila if they or their passengers are not wearing helmets they get fined. If they don't have an appropriate licence the bike is impounded.

There is a specific exemption for Sikhs, so long as they don't go faster than 50.

(8) A person is not in breach of subclause (1) if the person proves that at the time of the commission of the alleged breach he or she was an adherent of the Sikh religion.
(9) Subclause (8) does not apply if the vehicle was being driven at a speed exceeding 50 km per hour.

You probably have, it is just that you have taken the view that turbans are nailed on to the head or something and cannot be replaced with a helmet when the need arises.

There's more than one religion in India
Sikhs wouldn't have this group otherwise

I'm not that narrow minded, LOL. I can't see the vid you posted, sorry but I'll assume it shows Indians racing.
I'll clarify what I posted. To my knowledge, in a NZ context, I've never seen a Sikh racing a motorcycle. Yes, some years back we had a nice young NZ born Indian come and race with Canterbury. Not a Sikh - he was clear on that. Over the years I've been to a lot of major North Island meetings too. Never seen one identifiable Sikh - and i'd expect that if one did come to race he'd bring at least one friend as support who should have worn the turban. If a Sikh has raced in NZ, good. I can't claim to have seen everyone.
I'd love to see a more ethnically diverse group racing bikes. Gradually, I think we're seeing more Maori too. At the moment in CAMS we have a surprising range of nationalities ex europe but not a lot of asians.

He was talking about clothing, not fault.
You should take your broken record somewhere else.

But to him not having the right clothing in a crash is a form of fault is it not?
If they are legally dressed (wearing a crash helmet) ... They can't be found at fault for being involved in an accident ... they didn't cause ...
Although ... some injuries they incur in that accident ... might have been preventable. Preventable accidents are not illegal ...
But ... ACC will STILL cover their medical costs ... :devil2:
