Where would I take a RD400 for an engine rebuild in Wellington?

Will people stop buying RD400s:mad:

Sheesh, I've been trying for months. Damn things will be as common as muck soon. A mate made me help move his purchased one 3 weeks back.

Pete Sales Total mc in Palmy North would be a good choice, he' built up a few for racing over the years and will be able to spot issues many mechanics won' be familiar with these days.

I'm sorry about that Dave, but I do recall you keen as to see what else was in that garage! - even I was amazed at the quantity of Kawasaki triples in one place

Don't take it anywhere, DIY, they are not that complicated.

Pressing cranks is an acquired skill. Also assessing 40 year old gearboxes should not be done by someone who has not seen a variety of them as they degrade in water/oil mix that passes for gearbox fluid for decades.

Yes, that's probably right, but you can take those bits to an expert but do all the spanner work yourself.

I can't imagine not wanting to but some just aren't comfortable to dive in.

Experience helps when assessing wear of parts as not always covered in manuals (not that I usually bother reading them unless its a brand I rarely deal with.

Besides the OP is long gone and likely won't post again.

I am already betrothed to another.

Dodgy, so have you started that damn thing yet or do we need a garage session?
