Resonably priced learner bike?! You'd be so lucky
A GN250 would probebly be the best bike to learn on, but if you want something faster, you could go for a CBR250 or a ZXR250. 4'9" is almost perfect hight for those bikes :p
What price range are you looking at anyway?

Welcome.....
Hmmmm being so short... maybe look at a Yamaha Virago 250cc Cruiser bike.
A GN250 is great for a learner.... but just may be a tad tall for her.. unless it can be lowered for her.
What type of bike is she really into thou.... ?
How much money do you have to play with as well?
Cos she needs to look at riding gear to wear as well.
Sports, cruiser, touring or off road stuff.
Cos that will give the good folks on here a idea of what to recommend.
You mention in your title "Little person" are you talking a dwarf or midget?
Cos that may also help us in finding the right type of bike for her.
I am 4 foot 12 inches tall and I ride a Virago cruiser...

I know someone who is selling a minter Suzuki Volty 250, great bikes to learn on and cheap to fix if she should scrape it up a bit. The owner is not much taller than your girl, she finds it good. How cheap do you need to go to???

Its a hell of a lot easier to say 4 foot 12 inches...
than trying to explain 5 foot to people..
cos they always go 5 foot WHAT?
Plus it makes people stop and think....

a gn 125 would probably be fine. fair bit cheaper than a 250, and easier to lean on :)

Id go with a 250 of any sort.
Smaller bikes are more likely to get run over as they are exactly what they say...small.
You could putt around happily on a singel or twin without worry.
Welcome to the site by the way. :headbang:
