I happened to ride passed that accident yesterday.
Was rather sobering watching fully patched Hells Angels crying on the side of the road, being comforted by other members.

I find Humour is the best antidote to bad news.
The fact is that a good bloke sadly lost his life doing what he enjoyed.
No disrespect intended.

"Humor" in bad taste isn't that funny ... and it's old (fake ??) news.

I ride that way often, so I know that road pretty well. My thoughts go out to all those affected by this.

Did you know him?
I went to see one of his shows once, so yes, he was like a brother to me.

Hell yes, going round corners far quicker than any Harley can comfortably navigate and riding like there's no tomorrow.
But as you say, pity it didn't happen to a more "deserving member of the motorcycling society....." ;)

If you ride like there's no tomorrow ... there is a pretty good chance there won't be one at some stage ... and sooner than you expect ... :pinch:
Probably ... sooner than HE expected ... ;)

"Oh, the pain, the pain!"

All of you are old enough to remember the original "Lost in Space". You might remember the movie from 1998 (Heather Graham, Matt LeBlanc, John Hurt looking a bit, well, hurt) which was pretty good - the opening space battle in particular. Anyway, there's been a Netflix remake.
Its pretty good. Its aimed (I think) at family viewing, there are a few plot holes (what did you expect?) and so forth but it was worthwhile. The robot is really cool.

Even worse I think maybe he was an Auckland social media thing? I remember seeing and tsk tsk-ing the car surfing video over the harbour bridge though but had no idea who the surfer was (until the last couple of days).

it was William Hurt and Gary Oldman was Dr Smith (John Hurt would have been a fine replacement for the latter though). I liked that film. The new series was poorly handled overall despite some good ideas.

... but does that not make him the best rider for outliving them all?
It's not his fault they're dead. Why does he get the credit because they aren't alive ... ???
Were the other riders at fault when they died ... ??? :blank:
If it's the last man standing that gets the applause ... I must be bordering on awesome ... :shifty:

I remember some years back on here a poster said all the riders who were better than him that he knew are now in the cemetery but does that not make him the best rider for outliving them all?
no it means they probably weren't better than him.
if only there was some quantifiable way to assess a rider's ability against known-to-be-effective standards...

Wash yer mouth out wiv soap!.
You could not possibly be implying that a rider training course might sort the boys from the ""fuckwits"" , could you!

gee do you really think so? i read on here once that training and assessment is only for at-fault people who aren't very lucky and will make them rossi wannabes because they don't pay higher acc because dog owners also don't and if you go on a group ride you'll die so buy a big suv to be safe.
are you suggesting there's another way that may have been overlooked?
