Is that the one from the aluminium bike ? Last time I looked at that it was the same. Job for the apprentice I suspect.
I've seen pics of a bevel Ducati with grooves instead of the drillings. Even more time intensive.
Is that a mag or just points/distributor sitting where the starter motor would go ?

I recall, during the early eighties, seeing a GS1000 engine in a sidecar where someone had lightened it by drilling the engine number. :shifty:

I don't know if it is true or not, but my understanding was Pops Yoshimuras wife did the drilling on the engines??

i think you'll find it's for increased surface area, each drilling more than doubles the surface area of that circle.

That's some dedication - I'd bolt on a larger oil cooler.

Dimple drilling was what it used to be called.
Worshiping the gods of speed requires a lot of dedication from some.
Cameron did a whole article on some of the false gods.
Back in the 30-50s they used to acid dip car panels.

the bike was built in nz and sent over to the world formula one championship, the team already had dedication so that wasn't a problem....
