I had an awesome ride in today.
The weather here in Wellington was spot on...
I managed to hit that sweet spot in traffic flows, the lull inbetween traffic wave at about 7.50 on the gorge...
Picked up a couple of riders so it was cool lane splitting in unison...
Got a decent park at the Grey St bike park...
Coffee from Arabica taste's beaut...
Life is good!
Anyone else have a better ride in than normal?

Yep it's always good when you get that gap in the Gorge traffic. I head out toward Petone so it's usually a sweet ride.
The only thing wrong this morning was that I hadn't put one of my ear plugs in properly, so things were a bit noisier than normal.

I didn't ride in. I walked. If I had of ridden, I wouldn't have made it to work, the long way round, via Kasikstan..

My ride to work is generally uneventful. Takes me only 12 minutes and I don't usually exceed 50kmph!
The ride home on the other hand can be quite exhilarating. If it's fine I will usually take the long way home which is an extra 40-80kms depending on which State Highway I choose to take. :ride:

I had a great ride too. Traffic did seem very light in Wellington this morning.
Went for a bit of a detour around the back of Wadestown.
Sweet.

My ride was pretty much like yours mate. :)
Nice to arrive at work with a grin on your face.
My morning may have been even a little better than yours: There was a Fidel's coffee sitting on my desk when I arrived.

I bought the XJR in today and was a menace. Was a bit of a zinger on a zoomer. Be thankfull I only bring it in once a week. Copped green on all the stoplights (11) though so no complaints about the ride in. :niceone:

I went to work a little later this morn and hit traffic heading out to petone. bit annoying as I was trying to beat my flatmate (yota echo) who left 10mins before me. dry roads though. looking forward to tonight...if its dry.

I had a great ride in...Mrs S is home sick today to it was on my own. I was happily splitting through traffic, noticed a police bike on the side of the road, but it was too late to merge back into the traffic so just carried on with the splitting, gave him a nod as I went past, he nodded back and I carried on my merry way.
Dropped the bike off at the shop to get the clutch sorted, so hopefully that'll be ready to pick up tonight.

I also had a great ride in today. The NZ was humming away and traffic was light at 8.45am.
(I'm a local government worker so I can start late !!! :niceone: )
However, it is supposed to rain later today, so the ride home may not be so enjoyable.......

Reading that tells me why suicide statistics are so high!
I read that and realise how cruel life can be!
I realise I will never experience that again!
I am retired!

Hey Mark, yeah twas me!
I saw you coming through from the rear & recognised the sound & colour as ya whizzed past! Inlight of the crap conditions I played it carefully, as it was I had to contend & wrestle with a cager merging in my space straight after seeing you!

It wasn't sunny, but it's always beautiful around the Pauatahanui inlet and then over the Haywards hill.
The only bad thing is that at the end of the hill there's a curve which is always dirty and today there was more gravel than usual. So I preferred not taking any risk and missed the green light :Oi:

It was a good one this morning, the cagers seemed to be using their heads and mirrors.
In general I prefer the ride home, if I am early enough I can miss the usual turn and take the Pauatahanui inlet from Grays road and back round to whitby... nice nice nice.

I do the same on the way back sometimes, in reverse though Whitby first then Grays road.
Thats a really nice ride at the end of the day, weather and traffic permitting! :niceone:

Well the morning may have been great, but how's the afternoon - wet like Auckland? I got drenched on the way home 2nite, it sucked BIG time...just as well I wear waterproof gears to work every day, and I was riding on a brand new tyre just fitted too!
The best rides to work are undoubtedly Fridays and those days when you know you've got a holiday the following day, it's usually a mindset...but dry roads, low winds, and cloudless skiies help!! :sunny: :ride: :sunny:

Uneventful as always desired except I ended behind a vehicle with broken brake lights - things you often discover after hearing the brakes start squeaking accompanied with rapid distance reduction. Just a tad heavy braking resulted but was most worried about the car behind because I had no safe exit points, besides remaining on the edge of the lane.
... 100m down the road I holler at them while filtering "Your brake lights don't work". Priceless expression. Perfectly timed though, just like in the movies ... as I rolled up level they wind down their window ... couldn't believe my luck ... thought they might've been expecting either a message or to give some abuse. Turns out they just wanted to flick excess ash off their cig.
