tire removale tools

hi chould somone recommend nz site or shop to get some tire irons and rim protectors from.

I gave away my tire irons rim protectors years ago.

me my dad tryed remove cross ply tears ago gave up. kinda glutton for punsihment but am going give it a go.

brought a michlean city grip tire for my scotter. being 12 inch rim and raidal tire might be a bitch to get back on.

i get some window cleaner . though it thought dish washing liquid may do but then it whouldint evaporate.

I went around all places in pamerston only managed get massive lever from super cheap no rim protectors.

was going try cutting up bending a milk container as last resort. try get old tire of and if have no luck i drop it in

Looked at motion pro tools they look cool but havent got coin this week to be of amizion

Good old standard run of the mill garden hose is suitable as temporary rim protector.....three pieces @ 75mm long & slit :msn-wink:

A 1m length of 12mm rod cut into three equal lengths with one end flattened out tear-drop shape with the edges smoothed off will work as good if not better than and be cheaper than a over the counter brought tire lever too.

The smaller you go in tire diameter size the harder they are to fit

like your thinking mate great suggestion i got garden hose i run over the end pieces with car few times ;-)

be much better idea than think milk container . bloody tire iron got only chould afford one was 20 bucks its like 6 ft long bit overboard.

thought about cutting it in half having two pieces ;-) i not going try that with hack saw being hardened steel.

Bits4bikes ????

I've used many times and pick up from a local shop - pop in at lunch time type of thing from work. I do not know for sure but I suspect the website is set up by one of the NZ importers the dealers buy from - the shop will get a small cut for the service probably. And fair as most NZ bike shops don't run decent websites for parts.

A shame if you are not within a decent lunch break of a bike shop though.

Just select your favourite dealer. You will still get the option of having it couriered wherever. It stops the dealers feeling as though they are being undermined by the wholesaler as the sale will get processed against the dealer and you are paying retail - there is some profit probably going to the dealership you select

you could always get a manual tyre changing machine if you are doing more than one. makes it much easier
