A friend sent me a clip from social media about an NZ Transport Agency safety campaign along the lines of "Bikers are coming out of their sheds as the weather improves ..." ... except I don't know which platform it came from, so I went a-hunting on the NZTA website. Nope, nothing found. There are pages for safety and press but no sign of the campaign.

So, I Googled it, naturally, and found a joint NZ Police/NZTA campaign (http://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/look-out-each-other-roads-and-ride-safely-0) launched or announced (apparently) at the end of August.

So anyone who is already interested enough in biker safety to go actively searching for a safety campaign might be in luck this month, provided they know where to look. Or use Google.

My safety campaign has been the same since 1966.

Try not to get hit by anything else on the road.

No need to Google ... This bit in the link you posted gives us a clue ...

So ACC/RideForever is the prime mover, and NZTA and the Police (and me!) are merely tagging along?

Whatever.

Maybe the "campaign" will wind-up to full speed in September.

We'll see.

Meanwhile, I'm underwhelmed.

Oh shit. I guess I'm not the target demographic.

Any time NZ Police are involved in a "safety campaign" I'm immediately suspicious.

No shit. You should have seen all the chrome on show this last weekend around Dunedin. Beards trimmed, jackets polished and spurs spinning. Who says it's not all about image?

Was going to post in Friday night rants but realised I am just bitter because I don't get to ride for fun at weekends much these days.
