Hi all.
Girlfriend wants to go on the back this summer. So I am after suggestions on a nice short ride to take her on. Less than hour ideally.
I was thinking of tamaki drive on a week day evening or out towards huia cafe.
Cheers.

Where would you be starting from? Makes a difference if you're trying to do a short ride.

chuck her on the back and do the akaroa GP, best way to break in a handbrake

avoid to much stop start stuff if poss.Thats really hard work for a new pillion. You must make your throttle and brake applications as smooth as possible

Cheers. Huia sounds the best then. Don't want helmet knocking together.
Thanks for the advice

I'd probably avoid the roads in the Waitaks for a first pillion ride, especially on a 250.
A loop out to Maraetai might be good, plus you can stop at one of the beaches for a break.

Up and back SH16, is a good long uninterrupted road .

True. They can be pretty shitty at the best of times.
That's a good idea!

There's that too. Nice cafes too.

She wants to go to a book store in Thames so that's the likely looking option.
Will keep in mind your dad's advice ha
Then take her out on the bike

Just a tip. Leave a 4 second following distance. You'll find yourself braking less often, which engenders confidence in a new pillion.
Mrs Cat sleeps on the back of the bike on long trips. Awesome pillion.

Cheers! I have taken my brother on the back but only in traffic so limited opportunity for a long distance cos people steak the spot.
Thanks a lot

Less braking means less banging of crash helmets together.
