He is in White pages. Lives in Northcote or close to it. Good luck if you have to leave a message as he is very laid back. Why not send the shock to Robert Taylor at Hawera Motorcycles, 06 278 4160 as he is Ohlins Distributor.
Cheers

Cool I'll ring him. Robert is up to his eyeballs for the next 3 weeks so I thought I'd shop around for something more local.

Dredged from the depths......
Can anyone confirm that Tjebbe Bruins contact details in this thread are still correct?
I snapped the piston rod on my CRM shock yesterday and it seems he is the man to fix it.
Cheers.

Find someone else.
He 'rebuilt' a shock for me. It didn't last one practice session and he didn't want to know about it when I tried to bring it to his attention.

Should I start a poll to get my shocked fixed?
1 Confirm details.
2 Get other recommendations.
3 Start a new thread.
4 Applaud that GIF.
5 Get popcorn, it's raining again.
6 Ask if anyone has an 89 - 95 XR250r shock in good condition for a reasonable price.

The only direct swap is from a 89-95 XR250r. I don't want to try to make another shock fit. I have the mechanical ability of a slug. So it's a rebuild or direct replacement so far. Second hand XR which would need to be serviced or maybe a new Hagon. Boils down to bounce for the dollar really.
Oh, the shock is still on the bike so I have no idea of measurements. A new piston shaft and service would suit me for my skill level and fear threshold.

Well there is plenty of XR250's being wrecked on Trademe, some models are likely better than others.

Don't go looking! I can do that.
I had a quick look, but no XR 250 r's. It was quick..
I would still like TB's number. Buying a new shock is a last resort and 2nd hand would be the same age and unlikely to have been looked after as well.
Not just TB but any other well reputed, know their stuff, give a damn suspensioneers.

I found a few although one looked like a 200
Just search under parts XR250
i did a search under his name and came up with this from the MNZ page.

This is an interesting thread.
It's not what I was expecting...... but.
I'm still trying to get clarification on the tardme shock and looking elsewhere I could have close to a Kg of hens teeth but the shocks are slim on the ground.
I dunno, owning old, rare (ish) bikes comes with a few problems now and again.
Still trying to figure out why it snapped in the first place, possibly a seized linkage. Hitting super cross whoops in 5th may not have helped.. Yeah, right.

Most likely, there was no rebound damping due to the shock being a million years old. Thing got sick of topping out at warp factor nine, and let go.

I tend to think of myself like that, rather than the bike, with this Enduro lark.
But, yeah. It's a 93, had a DIY re-gas more than 15 years ago so definitely not the freshest. The bike is probably being thrown at rougher stuff now than at any time in the past. It's had mainly road use with UK trail rides and managed the huge distance of 20'000km in all that time. Poor thing, great bike, though.

I owned a CRM250 a few moons ago when I lived in The Hutt. The thing was mental fun. Best part was riding legally on roads through the valley and then when opportunities presented themselves, jumping onto the gravel and giving it a handful before jumping back onto the road ahead of a dozen or so cars you were previously following. River Road, FTW!

If I could buy that level of reliability, practicality, comfort(ish), performance and fun in one new bike that was 20kg lighter I would bite the dealers hand off.
Oh. Must be a 2t. There in lies the rub.

Make it a Japanese 300cc and I'll fight you for it.

I see how you think. 12ltr tank, engine mapping, and an investment in seat foam. Done.
The bolts are bigger on Japanese bikes. It's comforting.
