Awesome. I can only hope that someone in the Police is following the comments on the Stuff article.

You can get up to 85kph on an Auckland motorway? I've never witnessed it [emoji6]

Imagine the money they could make in the Waterview Tunnel when they start using the cameras to measure average speed. 3 lanes all at 65 yesterday morning.

"If I was blocking any cars they [could have] easily have gone to other lanes."
Yeah, that's the sort of thinking that cunts hogging the right lane have. I've seen shocking driving on Auckland motorways, including someone in the middle lane changing to the right lane because there was another car half a km ahead.
I wish the five-oh would pull over more twats that hog the fast lane.

This article gives me some hope. The woman's reaction (Bearing in mind that this is Stuff so her comments WILL have been edited to make things sound worse/More daft) suggests that the police were somehow in the wrong...
Thankfully the comments I read all seem to support the cop who pulled her over.
People drive as well as they believe they need to - Sad but true.

If the cop hasn't done his casework exactly according to the book an average lawyer will get her off this ticket - wait and see - interesting case. :wait:
Speed limits are strictly that, a limit - they are not a compulsory speed. - Slow drivers must consider other road users and not obstruct other traffic. :corn:

That story made me smile. There is justice. Dumb bitch still can't see what an inconsiderate, ignorant, selfish driver she was. No doubt she consider s herself above having to use indicators as well. They are for 'other drivers' to let her know their intentions. No need for her to be courteous in return.
Well done that Officer.

Fucking excellent! Well done to that Donut muncher!
Cunts who can't keep left need ticketing. Bonus points to the 20 demerits too!
"I tried to ask questions as I was tired..." Well perhaps another reason not to be driving then? Dopey cunt.

As is usual ... some (most ??) motorists obey the speed limits if they believe it's necessary (or convenient). The other legislation is simply ignored if it is convenient to do so.
I hope she gets a judge that's been held up by slow traffic a few times ...

Could not agree more. Seems to me that many people treat posted limits as a suggestion that they are free to ignore should they so decide.
Mostly the choices to NOT adhere to the limits are because they are not looking or thinking ahead. I smile to myself every day I go through Mana southbound. The 50 limit extends to beyond the roundabout at Paramatta. Yet, most drivers go for broke as soon as they hit the bridge on the north side of the roundabout, they get to 65-75 only to have to stand on their brakes for the roundabout a few short metres later. No anticipation, no looking ahead.
Then we have the muppets going through the speed restriction for the new TG road at Tawa. Its an 80 southbound and 70 Northbound. There are people working there, right beside the road, vehicles entering and leaving the worksite from the motorway. I don't want to be the one that kills or injures a worker because I can't slow down for a couple of kms. Often its folks who travel at 90 on the rest of the motorway, don't slow for the restriction and dont speed up when they leave it and yes, they sit in the offside lane. No awareness of what is going on around them.
Need a few tickets issued there
Boy, that does feel better

My instinct on anyone cruising in the outside lane, the overtaking lane as it is known in many countries, is if they are dumb enough to be sat out there obliviously they are equally dumb enough to move left without checking mirrors. Makes undertaking a very uncomfortable decision.
Making filter left a legal requirement and enforcing it might speed up Auckland traffic, a tad.

Yup.
A mate had a good idea for when he becomes Supreme Dictator, is to fit speed camera vans with RH side cameras and have them travel at the posted motorway speed limit in the left hand lane.
Any vehicle the van passes (being in the LH lane) gets issued a ticket for failing to keep left unless passing.

I've seen leafs going slower (usually round 90) but not excessively slow or in the right lane usually (could be different by region). Holden drivers however should just be shot coming out the dealership; seems it doesn't matter what model they drive if it's got a Holden badge the driver is useless in one way or another.
As the saying goes "people who drive Holdens can't!"

I Own a tweaked March/Micra currently, fun car and hardly dull IMO. Handles like a go kart and doesn't punish me too much at the pump. Pisses off ute drivers though when I pass them :D
Rio I can't comment on but I would more call a car like a 6 cyl falcon, Holden, Toyota Camry, Hyandai Santafe as dull and uninspiring. The kind of car you buy because you need a car and have no real style to em. Just think there is so many more dull cars out there than the 3 you highlighted.

And don't you knock the Kia Rio. I painted my van in a colour taken from the chart. I don't actually ever remember seeing one moving, but By Jingo I'll get very cross if anyone bismerchs the good name of whatever manufacturer chose this lovely shade of metallic orange. Guess they are made by Hyundai or someone. . .

Looks like a decent hatch to me, so much bang for you buck with the Korean cars they're hard to look away from I must say. My wife really wants one of the new Hyandai Konas, not too bad a price too unless you want the EV one.
Anyone seen the latest Corolla? Looks racey asf though I suspect its writing checks it can't cash. Had a look but they only offer it in CVT so that rules it out for me, hate driving autos.

My wife has a 2016 Honda Jazz RS with CVT. I don't actually mind driving it as driving cars is purely functional for me. However, you can slip it in manual mode using paddles and it fair flies! Actually, I think it would out-perform my wife's old tweaked MX5 and the economy is pretty much the same as my GSX-S 1000.

We got a new vehicle at work and one of the drivers claimed the automatic transmission was slipping. I took it for a drive and thought it was gutless, so I took it to the dealer. The mechanic who looked at it couldn't offer much in the way of help until he suddenly brightened up and told me the man from Toyota NZ was visiting. The man from Toyota had a look and said it was CVT, you can tell by the fact that there is no filler cap on top of the gearbox.
I went back to work and read up CVT. The article said some people, when driving a CVT equipped car, felt as though the transmission was slipping, other people that the engine lacked power. That seemed about right.

I've not driven a car with a CVT, sounds like it's just like riding my scooter though, effectively feeling like a single speed auto-thing..
I know it's a different type of transmission but it made me think of this.I'm aware it's probably exaggerating it like most things involving May, Hammond and/or Clarkson but it does make me chuckle.

My wife actually has a Honda Fit RS same as the Jazz, agree its a brilliant car.
CVT on paper is a great transmission, car engine always at the perfect RPM. Most people think they are slow as they expect revs to change with speed but its not the case.
Best CVT I have driven would be a Skyline GT350. That thing took lots of abuse and was fun with the paddles.
I have nothing against em in particular I just prefer a manual car, I am a driver as well as a riders and love chucking a car through some corners almost as much as a bike

I bought my first car in over 30 years. It has a wheel at every corner. The end.
Actually the stereo is pretty good and the turning lights are useful. Wife likes the heated seats. Bikes should do that.

I had one as a rental in UK recently. It was bloody brilliant!
The rental company were sort of apologizing that they only had a manual available "could I drive a manual?"...
I think the little thing gave a sigh of relief when I handed it back.:headbang:

Story I saw the other day was about a Police pursuit where shots had been fired. Somewhere the journo found a driver that had been driving along in the right lane. He had seen the bad guys zooming up behind him weaving through traffic. The bad guys pulled up behind him going pretty quick tooting the horn and flashing the lights. The driver stayed firmly in lane 3 as the 2 left lanes were free and the bad guys could pass on the left. The passenger bad guy fired a couple of shots from a shotgun out the passenger window. The driver stayed in the right lane even after the shots had been fired and got properly abused as the bad guys eventually passed on the left.
Shots were fired and this driver didn't move left. What are the chances for emergency services or any other person wanting to travel at a decent pace without weaving through traffic?

Every time I drive out to Pukekohe I get stuck behind someone pootling at 75/80ish along 100kph stretches of road. Considered moving out that way once but constantly putting up with people who can’t seem to ever drive at the speed limit (and we’re talking in clear dry weather conditions) would just do my head in. Now that the two passing lanes of old have been reduced to one it’s even worse. Aaargh - if you aren’t capable of driving at the speed limit of 100 when the conditions are good then you should not be on the road!

Actually whilst out on the 675 yesterday when nearing civilisation, the two cars I saw weaving about the place I had to pass on the left, both were texting. On the motorway. Darwin please take them with you but not collect anyone else.
