Reddit? I am scared to google it.

I'm impressed with the utter simplicity of this modern Honda CB1100 retro job.

Ignoring the shit tyres and reduced suspension it is what Honda could and should have produced when designing the CB. It should and could have been Hondas 'Bonneville"

A 'Merican fad - slam the suspension for looks. I don't think they have corners. Or bumps.

I am waiting for the prices to come down to the point where I can have a crack at one.

I reckon another five years at crapsblots and I will pick up that one with the ponyskin seat for money I am prepared to pay. Its the peasant pack 5speed one too.

Its a drag bike. You're on it for nine seconds at a time. Suck them in like you do when you're cross dressing.

Your first post on KB was lauding the CX500 as some sort of pinnacle of cool and design. Therefore, you have no clue. Sit down, shut up, and let the grownups talk, son, you might learn something.

harsh - but fair....

Looks a lot like the leccy bike that ran at Lake Gardiner. Stopped partway down the course and some local wit remarked - "cord's too short"

Should one assume the big hole in the frame is usually filled with batteries ?

Not stock. Stock it's hideous. But strip it down, remove the fluff and you got yourself the Mona Lisa of engineering right there.

What you got here looks like one of those electric bicycles (that's not a complement), not a motorbike (and yes I realize it's an electric motorbike). It's not cool. I mean it's cool someone made it, but it's not 'cool'.
And I'm young and hip, so I think my word on what's cool or not is a little more valid than an old man trying to pass a toaster off as a motorbike.

No - simply no. You don't. A pushrod 4V arrangement where the heads are twisted to make it work ? No.
A rational engineer could make a CX engine about half the size and weight Honda did. And more reliable.

Speaking of electric things....

I was in the Viaduct having a staff meeting ( coffee and cake) on the waterfront and noticed the sudden appearance of Lime Scooters.

They look like a bit of fun, whizzing thru the crowds at 27kmph in helmetless glory cutting a swathe thru plugged in screen walking dead

wandering the inner city in search of the agile dream and next uber eat gig.

But 30 cents a minute..... thats a dollar waiting for the lights to change, add that to your smashed avocado soy milk trim white latte in reusable

cup, Netflix etc...... nickel'd and dime'd to death they say.

Shit Dave that was a low blow!!!

I never understood WTF they were thinking with that design. I've not checked but I would suspect they may actually be worth buying as a rising investment due to absolute rarity. Alternatively the motorcycle world that shunned them may wisely continue to.....

Some time back I saw a custom based on that disaster - the custom was a nice bike - obviously they threw away the shit!

Yeah, but despite them being heavy, and fugly, all you need to do is put a brown (possibly quilted) seat on it and some ghastly straight through exhaust and then you can be an edgy individual like all the other 12 year olds with their CX's and GN's ;) :P

I would just like to point out for the group that for all your guys hate towards brown seats, the bike this thread is about has a brown seat.

And seriously, the CX500 engine IS stunning to look at. Like, I understand it's a shit design and there's a reason why there's no other bike with weirdly twisted headers probably for a good reason. BUT that's what's cool about it. It looks amazing and it's unique. It's like a classic car. Sure, a Ford Mondeo is gonna be more comfortable, more practical for daily use, cheaper to repair etc.. etc.. BUT there's a reason why people buy classic cars, because they're fuking cool and striking to look at.

Apart from the fork colour and lack of rear huger what's not to like?

And for a engine you lot are bitching about it had a reasonable production life in forms from 400 to 650cc and turbo charged to boot. Wasn't that bad really now was it ;)

And the heads were twisted to move the inlet inboard away from the riders legs (Harley still can't resolve this issue after over 100 years ....).

Suzuki had several twisted barrels on GT series in the 1970s. RGV VJ23 of late 90s. There will be a bunch more. Guzzi didn't do it but they are a queer fish too.

I can't get over Brit "flat track" inspired bikes. A bike with no mudguards would be as much use in Britain as tits on a fish.

I'd love a Morgan three wheeler, but around here on too many days it could be like driving round with a swimming pool in the car.
I'd also need to take out a mortgage but that's another matter...

The truly committed would do this with a CX500.

Oh god he's not one of those people who think everything must be standard is he?

Years back I frequented a Kawasaki website (USA based) there was a guy on there constantly arguing with anyone who had repainted their bike - even if it was a concours restoration. He simply could not believe it possible to get better paint than factory. I guess he never looked at the underside of his Kawasakis tank - my last one had no more than primer and top coat over spray under the tunnel.

As a side comment to the above, I watched a show on the making of a new Ferrari some months back, and the paint and subsequent checking procedures to ensure the paint was 100% was very impressive.

Nah - in fact I am pretty sure I fell asleep while that page was loading - that's how boring another race rep is.

And two stroke engines - I don't think I've seen a decent looking one since the mass of the Kawasaki and Suzuki triples of the 70's. Back in the day I had a horn for a GT380. My brother had a KH400 triple in 'root beer' brown.

I personally think the COSTIN ENGINEERING (https://costinmotorcycleengineering.com.au/) replicas a little nicer.. Even then, if I had the income and space to buy up 2smokes, I'd have my eyes firmly set on a Ronax 500 or a Suter MMX 500

I can't think of a current "off the shelf" thou' which I actually want. They're all quicker and smarter than me, which really excites some people but it doesn't flick my switch.
