Check out RC Scooters. He does a big bore kit which seems pretty popular. The zuma is very similar to the Cygnus, or if you have the later model here in NZ it might even be exactly the same. Cylinder and head wise i'm sure they are the same. Crankshafts are different. RC Scooters are on Facebook and a link to the web site and the kit is here: https://www.rcscooters.com/product-page/155bbk?fbclid=IwAR0L_9W7ee0fQmT7CXfcInZj2r4f9ECl5R HSa90mEcYDc-jqTh9DNm6n49Q.

I have a bunch of his stuff in my Yamaha Cygnus at the moment. Very nice gear and good service. Chris Cey is his name.

Hey thanks, its a 125cc tricity ( 2 wheels at front ), do you think within the price range of 500$ i could easily get another 20-30kph, but if doing this in any way has long term effects like decreasing scooter life then i definitly dont want.

Some guy also had this eletronic thing where i duno but aparently it increased accleration and it had a adjustable little nob that it came with, i dont know what it adjusted but yeah if u know what i mean and if that also doesn't negativly effet scooter im interested in that also.

Thanks and please just excuse spelling ill assume u still understand what i mean :D

Save the $500 and buy a 250 (or 300).

the big bore kit is US$318. not so cheap but complete. Bolt it in and away you go. As the yanks say "there's no replacement for displacement". I dont know if the engines are the same but I can't imagine Yamaha making a whole new engine, plus the back end looks suspiciously scooter-like

Trade in for a 250+ it's the best option if you need to reach motorway speeds of 100kph regularly. If you prefer 3 wheels, there's the Yamaha Niken....

Cool. Fuckers can't spell anymore.

Also they buy scooters that top out at 85-90 then want them to go faster :brick::brick::brick:

Why do people buy 3 wheeled "motorbikes" anyway? Like what's the appeal? Because I don't see it. Just so you don't have to put your foot down at the lights??

It's a scary thought that someone with no previous motorcycle experience might be able to legally ride a 900 triple using their car licence.

Well, my Cygnus (Yammie 125 4T single) would top out at about 85-90 before I ripped the airbox off and put that ridiculous exhaust on it. Now it sits comfortably @ 100 but fuel economy has well and truly gone out the window and it fouls plugs like a motherfucker.

I think I remember you making a similar thread about bigbore kits?

At the end of the day, I know someone with a 125 4T scoot' who has done the whole big-bore thing, I know one person who got a small turbo (possibly from an old Gallant, I can't remember) and boosted his Scoot'. There are all sorts of things you can do but as most people have said, it's better all 'round to just get a bigger bike if you're looking to do it in a way that's reliable and dependable. What's the point of getting an extra 20kmph if you're going to be rebuilding every 6 months and constantly riding everywhere with The AA on speed dial, you know?

Your call, again I'll refer you to WEBIKE (https://japan.webike.net/YAMAHA/TRICITY125+%28MW125%29/6592/mtop/) which is an awesome place to get parts for jap bikes and scooters but overall I think a bigger bike/scoot' is your best option.

3 wheels means more stability around corners with bumps for example. Better on rough roads and rough conditions, iv been riding 50cc's for years so i mean im not new to riding on 2 wheels, yeah any way as i said i know nothing about engines etc and just wanted to see how easy it was to get lil extra speed so i didn't have to upgrade bike, i see some people are a bit offended by scooters, or my bad spelling, who knows. Thanks to those who have helped me and answered my questions.

Well there are alot of pros aswell as some cons, you could go around a corner a bumpy road corner with alot of stability and confidence etc, btw the tricity yamaha does not hold you up like you think, you still have to use ur legs to keep ur self up when at a stop or extremely low speed, but u can go alot slower then on two wheels with out having to put ur foot down.

Like for e.g you could go up the side of a gutter almost side ways because that 3rd wheel is still there to support.

Yeah mate, cheers, its fine for now any way as i don't need to go on the highway for my traveling. But yeah seeing those guys with those custom exhausts and stuff made me think it was perhaps common for people to change things that are stock in bikes or some thing, i duno any way, i wish you all a lovely day. Thanks to those who have helped me and answered my questions. You can change weights in varator. Google that. It changes when cv transmission changes up. Apprently my honda 250 scooter. Honda had changing up early to improve fuel economy. And u can get better acceleration. By just taking out two of the weights. Or using dr pulley rollers. Theres people on you tube. Go to extremes. Yes going to 250 be way to go.i rode mine 1000km on open road sits on 100 kph all day.

Ehh I don't buy that. I mean they probably are, but if you're so nervous of a rider that you feel you need to buy something with 3 wheels in order to feel safe going around a corner, you probably shouldn't be riding a scooter or motorbike to begin with. I'm not offended by scooters, my advice is solid advice. If you are serious about being on a bike, you should consider buying something bigger if you're worried about speed. You're going to become a better rider on a 2 wheeled motorbike and you are going to be far far safer on the motorway. 250's are a learner size bike for a reason and they're still very efficient on fuel.

Or you know, cut your engine apart and add a whole lot of expensive modifications. It's not like you're someone who doesn't know a thing about engines right?

If you're up the gutter you're doing it wrong.

Not a good idea. Change all the rollers, or three at a time. Using lighter rollers will give faster acceleration, as long as the motor doesn't start getting to the rev limit, but in extremes you will lose top end as the rollers aren't heavy enough to overcome the spring.

Trade it in for a Tricity 155 if you want more speed with factory reliability and economy. Btw, it's not the same engine as the Zuma/Cygnus, it's liquid cooled, 4v, vvt, fi.

.

Are you unable to understand the obvious advantages of having 2 wheels at the front instead of 1 in terms of grip and braking? And the Tricity has this new fangled device called ABS, have you heard about that? So much old, out of touch, blathering in this thread.

Have you looked at the size of the contact patch of the (small) front two wheels .. ?? Bigger IS better ... ;)

Fair enough, but in mitigation may I point out that this thread might perhaps have fared better in the scooter specific forum. Or not.

Notwithstanding that asking riders who have never owned a scooter questions about scooters can be a bit fraught, there is some good advice in the responses. I agree with those who said words to the effect, 'if you want to go faster get a bigger scooter'.
That's what I was told when I started out and it's still good advice.

Bikes & "fuel economy" go together like fat people and salads.
Theoretically it is possible - but honestly, it isn't going to happen.

ABS & two front wheels. Fuck me we really are breeding a generation that will have no idea whatsoever.
Seems there's no such thing as skill vs getting it wrong & owning that shit anymore.

I don't know about that, when it was stock I used to get 200km out of $5 of fuel. Other than the 996, all the bikes I've owned have been really good on fuel. The Duc' has a 17 litre tank and the light comes on at 170kms. She's a thirsty bitch
