Obviously they have a high number of available bikes to steal compared to here, but wonder if we will ever see them on our streets causing havoc.

This has been going on for a loooong time..

The Met' started "committing to more pursuits and ‘tactical contacts’ as part of Operation Venice." several months ago in response to it all. Muggings, acid attacks, bike theft (including hijacking of bikes being ridden in broad daylight in the middle of the city).

They've realised that IF they get chased by Johnny Law, all they need to do is take off their helmet (wearing balaclavas underneath anyway) and take off into traffic and Mr Plod isn't allowed to follow or chase them in case they stack it and hurt or kill themselves.. Although a lot of the victims probably wouldn't mind so much, to be honest..

Indeed. I'm from the NE of England, Geordie. The local yoof were using scooters back in the 80's to taunt police, do the occasional mugging and flee shop lifting sprees.
There are many estates which have narrow alleyways between houses, too narrow for a car, even a mini metro, and the yobs knew they could always get away from the feds.
It was a regional sport!

I do believe some of them are very successful road racers now.

You start a vigilante group. Just a small one. Blaclavas, black clothing, gloves etc. You nab a few of these thieves, tie them up, set them on fire (or just a bit of torture), film it and when the media gets a hold of it you've got them running scared.

There has to be consequences and if the plod aren't willing to dish it out then you take it into your own hands.
