Perhaps ... visit your local Motorcycle dealer.
The more you buy from them ... the longer they'll stay in business to sell you stuff and fix your problems ... and be available to answer your stupid questions.
How seriously you ride your honda ... will affect the type/model of shocks you need. (And ... how much you will need to pay)

Your local motorcycle shop should be able to tell you what the correct size is.
Use them or lose them ...

Use them or lose them ...no wonder Bowater Honda doesnt exist, having to stock a pair of 45 year old brand new shocks on the shelve.

Most reputable dealers (probably counts out the Nelson ones) have contacts with the appropriate/respective suppliers of stock that's needed on speed dial ... or at least an E.mail away.
Contact a Hagon supplier (anywhere) and ask them the original question ... I'm sure (in the interest of getting a sale) they'd find out what size/model is needed.
Just too easy ... maybe ...

Talk to Malcolm Kirkby at Anaconda he has been dealing with Honda parts for decades.

.Swift went to Suzuki app 1979. Bower instead of Bowater, oh I got it wrong despite a sale, your point is...oh they still in business stocking new shocks for 45 year old bikes, oh sorry i dont get your point.
I was riding National and South Island enduro rounds at that time and so was Swift.

AHAHAHAHAHAAAA seriously?
Last time I went to our local dealer they said "Nah mate, U wot? We dont do anythign for anything over ten years old" Absolutely fuckwits in my many years of experience. Yes, looking at you Casbolts.
OP - one of the Honda forums will be your friend. Or, take a shock off your bike and measure it.

I did exactly that searching for new shocks for an old XJ750. They found the required measurements and then made a list of price based options ... with comments on their practicality for MY situation and use. Don't judge ALL Bike shop dealers by your (obviously) limited experience.

Or take it to a Hagon supplier for direct comparison.

Yes my forty years of being a motorcycle enthusiast has taught me nothing, clearly.

Obviously ... if it was all at the same dealership ... ?? The one you used/claimed as "proof" the dealers would be of no use to him ...
And I'm in my 46th year of motorcycling ...

I could go to Davidson Honda in Alex and see if they want to part out that XR185 above the doorway.

Thanks.what spring rate would you get.
I have just re suspended a CRF 1000 with rates radically different from original, as advised and calculated from Nitron, but you could probably buy a used Himalayan for that sort of money and have a bike that is essentially the same as a motorsport.
