"Give me my phone, now". Obviously not hands free, so that should be a ticket. I doubt he was paying much attention to his mirrors either.

All said and done ... I've seen far more dangerous maneuvers (by cars) at/near the end of most passing lanes. Most of that vid WAS in a passing lane.
Jealous ... maybe ... :calm:

It was a regular ride for me on a '79 GS1000 and a Benelli 650 twin in the early 80's ... before they added a few more passing bays. The coffee at the summit cafe wasn't that great though. The views of what was passing and stopping there was quite good at times.

I really dislike go-pros.
Bike sounded good though ...... just saying. Should get some demerit points reduced for sounding good.

Here's a thing. Be me (you wish!) out for a pootle on the 2009 Triumph Street Triple R last Sunday. traffic heavy on the way to Little River.. Traffic HORRENDOUS. And apparently the appropriate speed on the Motukarara straight is 75kph. I pulled out to pass and some fucker decided to BOIL me. Brake operated Indicator Light. I didnt hit him (and thankfully the speed differential wasnt that great) but if the cunt had taken me out it would have been an "unfortunate motorcycle accident".
I actually binned it at that point and came home over Gebbies past the Black Tulip. Thats 3.50 of tourist dollars that Akaroa didnt get last sunday!

Cassina would have crashed ........ and it would have been a no fault accident.
Clearly you need to buy a rowdy pipe for the Speedy. Or use the incident as a excuse for a rowdy pipe. Or anything motorcycle related really.

closely followed by the trailer pulling road block. it's a mian road, the guy did it all right, pulling over in a bay in less than a minute after a passsing lane, what do you really think they should have done?

Putting aside the given examples there are a few places where it used to be legal and safe to pass a slow moving car up there and ohh like 2 days ago there were some slow ones.
But soon everyone with a dashcam will think they're a vigilante informant .
A mate actually got rear ended a few corners after passing someone who decided he was judge dread. Ohh that was illegal. I think I'll go all UK metro police on your arse.
That said I fear more than most things on that hill is a bike coming the other way.

what most idiots that are riding like that don't even think about is the car driver is just travelling from a to b so not ready for that shit.
the worst moment i think was the yellow bike passing going into a corner.
why the fuck don't they at least go up there at six in the morning when traffic is thin if they want to be idiots?

I'm not disagreeing with you there. There's people I've stopped riding with- at the time- as I don't want to be picking up the mess or worse catching it.

I think i've seen that ducati sportbike rider around wellington central. I've also seen someone riding in yellow gear similar to that worn by the other rider too, not that they were doing anything wrong, just saying.
Commodore driver looked to be in a hurry too. Those flashing brake lights!

Best time to go for a ride for the sake of riding is late at night in my opinion. That's when I'd go when I lived in Welly anyway. Very little traffic. In summer it's not too hot and not too cold. And you can clearly see oncoming traffic even coming around a corner thanks to their lights and people can clearly see you.

We don't get to see how long prior to the video he was (quite likely) holding up the line of traffic behind him before he finally pulled over.

Actually I've been intending build one for ages as all the ones I've seen only cater for silly mini indicators. But I see you can run both. Did you import direct?

so if a car holds you up that means its ok to make a stupid overtake? Genuine question.

so you're assuming he's a cunt then? i travel that road often, there is fuck all spots to pull over period, he did perfect in my book, especially so soon after a passing lane, most people think they don't have to bother

The delay builds a sense of entitlement.
Which disregards the safety of the risk taken.

Fuck trailer pulling mobile chicanes. Those cunts should be made to stick to main 2 or more lane highways or be made to travel in the wee hours.

Unfortunately there will always be dumb shits riding in dumb ways and doing dumb shit stuff.. It's unavoidable. We've got a stretch of road over here which is single lane in either direction, lots of blind corners, a rock cliff-face on one side and a combination of rock wall and wire-rope barrier on the other, always full of tourist traffic and even riding through at a considerable rate of knots (sensible for the amount of run-off you don't have, mind) you'll almost always have some hero on a Gixxer or something come flying past on the wrong side of the road, towards a blind corner, with nowhere to go if they fuck it up.
Cassina would have crashed ........ and it would have been a no fault accident.
Did they leave? Or get kicked or something? Haven't heard anything in a while

Not everyone in this world aspires to live in perfection with a 24/7 within 100meters, in fact some of us don't want that sort of life.

That's average weekend behaviour in my book, gets worse during holiday periods. Try driving a truck over that bit of road, some folks just "have to be" in front, even if it risks life and limb

If you only like riding on multi-lane highways ... it might seem like one ...
But being (currently) one of the two main highways into Wellington ... it gets a fair bit of traffic ... :second:

The Rimutakas are awesome compared to when I did my traffic cop motorbike training there back in the day. Last rode there a few years back and I was gob smacked at how good the improvements had been.
Doesn't matter the road, there will always be risk takers. And some ride bikes.

Dashcam perspective can seem worse than reality. In saying that there were some suspect overtakes too close to a corner going on there lads.
I rode over that hill today. Idiots who aren't confident enough to drive a twisty hill road at a reasonable pace should stay the hell off it. Take the train. A stupid woman in yellow VW Bug doing 42kph the whole time. Oblivious to the long line of frustrated cars behind her. Limit is 100 and any car can comfortably do 80kph. 42kph what a bitch.

she was doing her public service of keeping the traffic travelling at an appropriate speed for that road.
by you wanting to travel faster very obviously means you have no idea of what is a safe speed to be traveling at, :nono: she very obviously just saved your life and you should have tooted your appreciation and given her the very friendly wave as you went past her
