Some collectors bikes in that line up - you were sweet on the 2 stroke triples.

yes
first four were new . Kawasaki g4tr , sl350, dt 360 and mach 4, then the reality of economics stepped in.

little story for each bike
g4tr rode from auck to Rotorua and back , holed a piston at Tamahere sth of Hamilton , decided needed a bigger bike

sl350 someone tried to steal it at the speedway one night

dt360 when compression release cable broke , bastard nearly broke my leg kickstarting it

first mach 4 lost my licence for 9 months??? put twin discs on front and didn't change master cyl , used to smoke up front tyre , went for ride one day from Murupara via waiouru via wellington via danniverke via napier only stopped for gas.

honda cb 750 fitted twin sidedraught dellorto carbs , that fixed flat spot ??

second mach 4 uneventful , learnt from the first one.

kz 900 rode in freezing conditions between auck and waiouru for 2 yrs , met my wife on this one . still married 42 yrs later.

mach 3 fixed it up , seized a crank , spent years trying to make disributor waterproof commuted daily we formed a bond I wouldn't thrash her and she wouldn't kill me.

gb 500 expected a british thumper and got a high revving trail bike , electric start was a shit and kick starting was shittier

vfr 1000 absolutely awesome growl from this bike , fell over in driveway one morning , had to get wife to help pick it up weighed a ton (bike not wife)

gpz 500 wow a torquey little twin felt like the gb should have nice commuter but not a superbike.

duke 848 too new to say , I'm almost a pensioner (couple of months) wife highly displeased with this one

I'm guessing you stopped for gas quite a few times that ride. I knew a guy who had one of the original blue mach IVs. He was a bit of a bullshitter but I believed him when he said, two up, the bike did about 13mpg when ridden hard.

good to read your memories of those bikes, getting that SL350 from new mustve been something else, especially after a wee 100cc two stroke

yep , but $1.00 filled the tank on the Kawasaki back then ! bigger shock was going from sl350 to mach 4 .
