Looks like it is going to the pages of the motorcycle history books.

A shame. mind I don't think much of the way the current crop of Suzuki sporties are styled.

They could at least have given it a 'last' model fling and bolted on all types of Yoshi goodness and the likes.


What's these secret new models aye? I've only seen that horrid looking 'katana' that's coming out.

I had a K7 750, it really was a great looking and handling bike.

The history article is interesting, especially the bit about the model I had:

In 2006 the GSX-R750 received the last really big update in its life, gaining a new chassis, a 150-hp engine, and some of the best styling it’s ever had, including an exhaust that was almost entirely hidden in the bellypan. From here on, changes started to be driven by emissions rules more than the desire for better performance.

I always thought every newer model was not as good looking as the last.

One of the pommy mags did a story on them in about 2005
they got the most of the bits and weighed and compared them its amazing how much progreess was made with size and weight of some stuff and how little the basic recipe changed.
the big wieght losses were alternators and starter wights and sizes and instruments stuff you dont really think about.

thought suzuki said its coming back just with ABS / euro 4 just a "hidden" project like the new gsxr1000r (same with the new busa gen 3)

Who knows. A shame as the current flavor is the 700-900cc range of bikes. Why not have the GSXR 750 the sporting cream of the crop - heck take it to 799 or something. The buying public won't care - look at successive Ducati models stretching out the cc rating each year.

Typical Suzuki NZ - Suzukifest is one place to clear out the run outs or over stock from their range.

Mind you having said that there are some superb bikes to be had with decent discounts if you are not hung-up about the build year.

Honda end up doing the same on some good models, but only because Blue Wing over price them on introduction. Current bike set-up for this is the very nice CB1000 naked. $20k when the other makers equivalents are $2-$3k cheaper.

The GSXR at $15k is a steal.

When I look at my 2016 model I think that is how bikes are meant to look and I have no idea what I could replace it with as it the best bike I have owned.

Could be tempted to trade it for this - 2021 GSXR750 (https://www.suzuki.co.nz/motorcycles/model/gsx-r750z/sport)
