View Full Version : Where to buy individual crush washers?
The End

In need of a 14mm crush washer as part of oil filter replacement.
Not keen on paying $30 for a pack of ten with another $8.95 on top for shipping.
Preferably Auckland, but if I can buy a pack for a reasonable price delivered I'd consider that too.
Surely there must be a trade store or similar that sells these individually?

Try the hydraulic hose and fitting suppliers.

my local Mitre 10 has a bunch of surprising stuff like that. They have cabinets with little sections full of O rings and R clips and all sorts of shit. Saved my ass a few times.

If crush washer is copper anneal it. ( Gastorch till red-hot)
That makes the work hardened copper soft again, and you can reuse it.

You need to drop it in water when red hot to soften it.

me too, they have some smaller copper ones, and bigger aluminium ones. sometimes not ideal, but if you need to stop all the oil leaking out then..........

Spark plugs are 14mm. Buy one for your mower. Use the crush washer on your bike.

No need to quench it, copper is annealed by the heat.
But Dunking it in water saves the burnt fingers

Fercrissake - is no-one now able to walk into a shop where crush washers are a staple line and simply ask the person behind the counter for the item ?
Do you absolutely have to do it on line ? Don't want any personal interaction ?
Local to me - West side of ChCh - there are at least five hose and fitting outfits who will have individual 14mm crush washers on the shelf. They're a common size. They'll sell individually or by the pack.
But it's obviously too much trouble for some nowadays.....
