have you got your diodes in the wrong way around?

Too little current drawn by the LEDs to light the dash filament bulbs, I guess.
So, yes, LEDs in the dash might help. Or relays. Or transistors. Or revert to filament indicator bulbs, as designed and built.

Diodes are consistent.
LED in the wee dash pocket probably the best course of action.

Is this the VT250 in your details or is it a different bike? I know some of the newer bikes already have LEDs in the console, and the orientation of those need to be consistent with what is expected in the housings (ie flip the bulbs around). But if it is the VT250 then it will probably be an issue due to the current drawn/not drawn.

It sure is.
Been dicking about with the thing that has 4 wheels lately so the little guy has simply been transport instead of being played with.
Eventually I’ll pop the dash out for a look and see if I can led the lot.

I am picking it has been bypassed somehow. The indicator pilot light draws very little current and as you haven't changed it, then maybe you have accidentally disconnected it.

the dashboard indicator bulb earth is run through the bulb that is not powered. see that attached wiring diagram if you follow the wiring from the dash board bulb you will see that the positive feed from the both left and right indicators is attached to the bulb. because the dash bulb is low wattage it will not cause the bulbs on the opposite side that is not selected by the indicator switch from lighting up. the led indicators will not pass enough current for difference to light up the bulb and some times will even block the current flow, solution is to earth one side of the dash board bulb and fit diodes to the wires that where feeding the bulb originally and connect this feed to the other wire.
