For lease : Mt Wellington Kart track
Home of Auckland Bucket racing. If ever there was a grass roots base for future champions, it is here. Andrew Stroud went from here to Daytona on the Britten. Avalon Biddle went from here to European championships and NZ 600 championship this year. Dan Mettam did the same. So did Jaden Hassan. Scott Dixon went from here to IndyCar champion 5 times . They all started here.
In September 2018, Auckland council closed the track. Their aim, to redevelop the site and lease it to a commercial business. No consultation. No future plan except the distant promise of a new track at Colin Dale Park. Bucket racing is finished in Auckland and with it the future stars of our sport . An outrageous act against our sport. This is the only place in Auckland we can race. Imagine if it were the last Rugby field.
The track remains in usable condition. We need your help to get it back. Join our campaign https://www.facebook.com/groups/SaveMtWellington/announcements/
We have more than 1800 supporters so far. We need far more. Make your voice heard.
