I have a budget for some promotional give aways for our motorcycle events later in the year.

I don't want to produce junk that gets thrown into the trash as soon as it comes out of it's plastic bag.

What sort of things that are not too dear would you folk actually put to use? It's ratepayer funding, and the budget isn't limitless, but I don't want to waste what we have.

What would you use?

Condoms. I'd want an embossed logo (on the inside obviously... ribbed for her pleasure? - Nah)

Kind of expected that.

A couple of the pens given away by your predecessor are still working....haven't properly load tested the bag yet so witholding judgement on that.

Whatever you decide, I want several. They're my rates.

A mate in the North Island swears by a pen I have him. The only time he ever gets speeding tickets is when he hasn't got the pen with him.

Now it's run out, and he wants me to get him another.

I've suggested he slow down, but he believes in the power of the pen.

Tyre pressure gauges?

Neck warmers?

Screen cleaners?

coloured pipe cleaners, i have them through the zip handles on my jacket, the num,ber of times i've moved off and been distracted wondering if i'd zipped up my pockets. cloured pipe cleaners mean they can be grabbed while riding with gloves easily, less distraction, or i can quckly stand up on the bike and check them in my mirror again, rather than fumble and panic whther my cell phone sunnies or smokes might fall out.

Tyre pressure gauges if accurate.

Stand pucks are handy

Why don't you work with bike shops or tyre importers - $XX rebate on tyres, or servicing.

Neck warmers - I appear to never have enough of them.

few yr ago I got glasses wipes, they were good, I still use the beanies, the first neck warmer/hat thingy was good but the next version were no use for anything, the stand pucks are handy, always had a few in the topbox and gave em away to people when on runs and saw someone trying to crush a can to put under their stand, visor cleaners are always handy, as has been said the tire pressure gauges are handy as long as they are accurate.

a small torch is always handy and cheap as chips off ali express,

as has been mentioned, some sponsored gift vouchers are always handy but none of this is any use to me cause I don't live anywhere near Selwyn district anymore

Pressure gauges are really good idea, but as said, definitely only if they're accurate
Puncture repair stuff?
In a lineup, I'd probably take lens and visor cleaner
Cleaning products are usually popular, or vouchers for Repco or Supercheap etc to buy plugs and oil
I really like the anti-speeding-ticket pens
NOT tread gauges, keyrings, brochures or those one-way rescue-breathing plastic things
(neck warmers..? Grow a beard )

Ive never had a cheapy pressure gauge that wasnt an innaccurate peice of shit.

depends what your budget is I guess But Id prefer a small chance of getting something nice like good gloves, than a high chance of some shitty pen (I have dozens on my desk)

Stand puck and visor cleaning stuff, neck warmer comes to mind. A few other ideas... maybe not free but subsidised?

Glove liners (got some from Icebreaker and they're working well)

Maps (paper folding works in the back country, smartphones frequently don't)

Summer neck warmers (bugs and sunburn)

Spark plug box spanner and Philips / flathead screwdriver with plastic handle, doubling as tommy bar

Packs of disposable foam earplugs

Motorcycle tyre sized cans of Tyre Weld

Thats funny cause it s true. re the pron.

Re the car unfortunately work doesn't give me a private use bike Dave. They insist on using a silly Toyota
The only real car accident i had in millions of km's driving i used my arm to bust the side windows. Not recommended.
the little window bashers work brilliant as does a automatic center punch.
You can also use to at other peoples accidents. Although most motorcyclists die in those.

I think pressure gauges are a good one, and other small useful things like earplugs, visor wash, a microfibre cloth, a mini spray bottle of chain lube, etc.
Vouchers are awesome too, see if some of the accessories retailers like Boyds or Motomail would give you some discount coupons.
One accessory I've been after for awhile but have never gotten around to it are some custom moulded earplugs. Perhaps see if Plugz for Lugz would do some discount vouchers.

If they don't notice your bike ... chances are they wont notice your sticker.

Unless of course it's a meter square and highly reflective ... <_<

Has your bike still got all all the reflective panels the manufacturer fitted it with .. ???

You only need that little on at the rear to get a WOF

I can't stand those orange fork ones the US bikes have.

So ... they wont see your tail light at night .. ?? those little reflectors don't work well in daylight.

They should notice your headlight ... even in daylight (from the front at least).

Anything small that will fit into a tool roll or jacket pocket and can stay there long term, and is actually useful. Think quality or it will just get biffed.

Visor wipes or hand cleaner wipes. Tiny torches. A plastic card with the blood group and next of kin etc. A waterproof thingy to stick the phone in when you slip it into the jacket pocket.

Best one I saw was a tiny solar panel for charging the phone. Go to a rally for the weekend or ride out for a coffee, maintain phone power. Not everyone has a USB or 12v port on their bike.

I have liked the hi-vis jacket/s and sidestand pad I've received in the past.

Wonder what others would think of a tool roll, I made one for my own use but a branded giveaway one would be easy to produce. You know, you open it up and it has pockets to hold various tools you might need, filling it up would be a personal choice - I carried plastic ties, a multi-tool, r&oe spanners for all size nuts on the bike and a 10" adjustable wrench.

I also used to carry a roll of 100mph tape and a tyre plug kit but they had to be carried separately to the tool roll. Couldn't count the number of times someone on a group ride needed to use my tool roll, I never did - but that's insurance isn't it, have the tools handy and you'll never need them.

Tons of surface for your branding message too.

Petrol Vouchers!!!!

I hear ya. Thing with vouchers are that they are like cash, and as such are a logistical nightmare.

I'd have to keep a record of who they went to, in order to prove that I'm not giving vouchers to friends, relatives etc.

Where I work we actually have a policy on vouchers. We aren't allowed them.

Turn up at one of the Kickstart Roadside events in October.

Engage with the Ride Forever trainers who are there. I'd suggest leaving the wheelies, burnouts and stoppies for another day.
