Not my cup of tea but certainly catches the eye.

Yes that beauty has been popping up on the net the past week or so. BMW's new 'big twin' engine they have supplied to a couple of builders to showcase the upcoming engine.

That example is fantastic, and with suitable fettling could be a production model.

The other one is the 'birdcage BMW' I don't like that one but I'm in the minority apparently - the tubes are too spindly to my eye. It does what the brief was though - showcase the new engine.

1800cc - that's a big bitch.

I don't see it wooing the HD crowd - they tend not to move from The Motor Company no matter what is served up by others.

I wouldn't own it, but I do like how clean it looks

I could be proved wrong, but who do they expect to buy this?

This is the same company that can't sort out the problems with the new S1000RR. You'd have to ask if they have their priorities right.

It will come out as a big bore retro cruiser I predict, should appeal to the same people who like the Triumph Bobber, R9T, any retro stuff and cruiser or standard buyers who don't want a HD or generic bike.

What's wrong with the new S1000RR?

Deliveries In the UK have been delayed by months. There are rumours why. BMW are blaming a 3rd party supplier not meeting required quality standards.

Interesting - something critical then. I was very impressed how quickly Aprilia addressed that batch of dud rods on the first set of the V4's.

I predict that I'm unlikely to trade either of my BMW Airheads on one. My previous prediction of I'd rather be seen on a Vespa than HD has proved accurate.

Can HD survive the pending lack of Baby Boomers?

They do seem to have QC issues periodically - I remember with the Mille Twins there were issues with suspension dogbones breaking. Including on in NZ.

What you need is a Topper - the worst of both worlds
