I've had my Superlight for about about 4 years and have not really used it due to aches and pains.
It got to the point I could not ride 18 months ago.
Thanks to the DHB my aches and pains are now much less and I can ride it for about an hour before the very uncomfortable seat becomes too much.
Cold damp drizzling day in Auckland and I did 200 kms around the back of Pukekohe and Hunua's.
Since dropping the front sprocket down to 14 teeth its a changed bike, so much less grumpy that the rider who has only had ball joints done. The 2 valve 900 is a great motor, I can't see how I would need more power to be honest.
Perhaps a track day beacons when summer rolls around.
I was pondering how much of a better bike it is at 24 than my Ducati Darmah was at the same age.
Certainly better than the Pre Unit Triumph I'm working on.....

But you got a lap in on it without cracking a swing arm, breaking a belt or blowing the reg rec? Bravo.
I suppose you just learn to live with that broken clutch noise do you?:msn-wink:

I can't say I'm a fan of the Ducati dry clutch, how come the BMW and Norton have them and they are quiet?
Had a 600ss for a while and it had a wet one ( no biscuits were harmed).

Bang another clutch plate in at the back of the stack, it shuts the clutch up. Only rattles when you pull clutch out! Works a treat.

Noise Vs work and parts- Noise wins ( thanks for the tip though)

Strange as they are just an SS with a different seat, brake discs, some carbon bits and a numbered plaque.
I bought so I could swap over the Nitron shock from my SS and get some Termis.
The FCR's although nice sounding and quick response made for hard starting so they sit on the shelf.
I'm glad I don't live in the US, I'd end up like one of those old guys you see on American Pickers.:msn-wink:

The trick with starting fcr's from cold is to press the starter button with your left thumb & rapidly twist the throttle to halfway or more repeatedly until the bike fires up.
You're using the accelerator pump, instead of the choke.

The cold looooooong inlet manifolds turn the vapour back into liquid until they warm up.
I started getting " your bike is hard to start and the clutch is broken"
Rebuild set of Mikunis work nicely.
I could start a super long thread like Odduck but have decided just to ride the thing as it left the factory.
Dumb idea sticking the rear cylinder carb next to the front one me thinks.
At the end of the day its just a weekend toy.

Doubt if Bologna gets many frosts.
Reminds me of the late Henry Manney in Road and Track mag. California climate wasn't good to Pom cars which used Ethelred's old recipe for glue made from melted down cows to stick the upholstery together. Manney reckoned the glue was OK in the ambient climate of Byfleet, Surrey...

I gather the Mikuni's were a giant leap forward from the Weber carb they fitted to the first model.
Can't see why they went away from the Dells, probably on stop credit with them.
I went to the Factory once, they seemed to spend a lot of time testing ciggies and coffee.
Museum was good, nice to see the Darmah in the main foyer.

My YZF750SP was like that (FCRs) but just needed a squirt or two and it was mint.

/\/\ Ducati went for $1900, same as the pile of 70's BMW parts last week.
8 Degreess this morning, out for a spin up to Warkworth, Woodcocks Road, SH 16 and home.
Great fun up and down the box riding the torque curve.
The Royal Enfield club were parked up and there were three of the new Interceptors, they look really good and for 10K priced well.
Owners seemed pretty happy with them but saying that the one I spoke to came from a 500 Bullet.
Club run this after noon so out on the Commando.

Going from brembos to lockheed and gears on other side keep you alert. 300 km today and never left Auckland. Gives me an idea for summer ... 5 in a day ( pending going/ reg etc.

220 round trip to Wellsford, had a cappuccino with cinnamon. Pondering heated grips but probably put it on hold till Summer, do the belts and check the desmos, use one of the $50 a year bikes for the winter.
