Holy shit who saw the Bastille Day celebrations on the News when the Flyboy hovered along the Champ Elyse. Took me a while to believe what I was seeing when I googled the Zapata. Franky Zapata devised that water jet propulsion hover craft that runs attached to a water hose. Now he's built a gas turbine version- unplugged. Free as a bird! Looks fantastic. Just like a bike, fast, flickable and bypasses traffic congestion. Runs for 6 minutes apparently and capable of 118mph and theoretically can go up to 3,000m. Just a one hand control required.

Every time I watch it I can't stop thinking how we all laughed at Marty McFly riding his hover board in Back to the Future. That was just silly movie fantasy. Jokes on us.

Theres another vid out there of him racing jet ski's on a lake in the states its very impressive.


I get the impression this thing is way harder to control than it looks though.

their are a few places in NZ that rent the jet ski powered versions, my brother and law has had one for a while , not to hard to master hovering, but black flips are painfull to learn,

not sure i would want this one to fail on me ,

Nah. Flux capacitors by then.

I still am in awe of what this Dude has done. Runs on kerosene apparently. Kero went out of fashion in the 1970s. We had smelly kero portable heaters in our home with glass flagons filled with kero. That wouldn't be pc safe these days.
