got sum new tyres for my bike tonight and saw a ducatti there a guy had dropped while leaving the shop with new rubbers , how gay is that snapped the mirror and brake lever and some gravel rash

I'm sure he feels like shit about it too... I know someone else on here that did something VERY similar and, as it turns out, he's a good bastard. Some things are the luck of the draw.

Back in my RD/RG days the requirement for a new back tyre was a burnout with a couple of donuts for good measure. Never had a grip problem, just a problem with the tyre not lasting very long :devil2:

The place I go for tyres makes it quite clear everytime about the wax and scrubbing the tyres in. I presume everywhere does the same. Maybe the guy had a brain-fade.

I heard that this is actually no good...fucks up the compound 'cos it's not bedded in from forces from the road or some...thang...

but just take it wasy for a few bends, no drama (unless it's wet)

When i got my last set of tyres at cycletreads, i turned right up barries point road and then left down that side street past the driving range and as i was going around the right hander at the bottom the front end gave a big shake as it tried to break away, i packed myself bad! but managed to keep upright, i can just imagine sitting on the side of the road crying at my baby on her side :crybaby:

Never had it happen to me, but quite often the back gets a little loose when leaving the shop. I'm aware of the situation, the guys at the shop have reminded me, yet she'll stin spin up a treat despite my conservative use of the throttle. I must be more cautious of the front though, as I haven't had any 'interesting feedback' from it so far.

Not a good way to break-in a set of new tyres. (and fairing, levers, clutch cover's, etc).

the wax that covers teh tyres when they're shipped out?

The best way to scrub in new tires is a few kms down a gravel road slowly. it scrubs the wax off the whole tire in one go so you dont have to take it easy on any corners afterwards. And it dosnt wear the tires out as fast as a burnout at the shop

If the shop is any good they should always rough sandpaper the tyre before they take it off the wheel balancer , & they should remind you that you should take it easy for the first 20-80 k's . :niceone:
