Hi, I"m looking for a complete DR650 frame in good straight condition (that would pass certification). If you have one in your spares, that is available, please let me know.

How fucked is the one you have? My neighbour had a bike frame straightened and recertified and it was alloy off a CBR1000. DR is mild steel so should be able to be hammered back with a big enough hammer.....

Unfortunately, the frame cannot be straightened enough to make the motorcycle certifier happy. So, I still need a roadworthy DR650 frame, preferably with live rego.

Considered importing? Freight would be a killer but if it's the only way to get the bike going...
If the steering head on your frame is not damaged it should be possible to swap them (and thus the frame number) of the work was done by a suitably qualified welder.

Pete: thanks for your suggestions. I've been watching the Australian websites but nothing has come up yet. I did check out the frame on Trademe - but the bottom rails are badly damaged and there is a bit of a question about the legality of ownership, according to the seller. So, still looking.

Might be worth investigating cost of freight from US. The frames are cheap enough to offset the freight cost. How heavy is a bare frame?

Pete. I had a look at that Ebay ad. The postage was quite a shocker, $1400. So, importing from the USA is not a likely thing. So, still looking in NZ. Cheers.

You dont use their freight rates. Get a quote from a proper shipper. Someone like this will strap it to a pallet and send it. https://www.kiwishipping.co.nz/CarsAndParts

Well this has been on Trademe for ages. Not sure you will get any better than that.

I did check the auction and contacted the seller. The bottom of the frame is well munched.
