Milwaukee, Wis., October 12, 2005 -- Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE: HDI) today announced record earnings for its third quarter ended September 25, 2005. Third quarter diluted earnings per share (EPS) were 96 cents, a 24.7 percent increase compared with 77 cents last year. Net income for the quarter was $265.0 million, up $36.0 million or 15.7 percent. Revenue for the quarter was $1.43 billion compared to $1.30 billion in the year-ago quarter.

Maybe SumDog is buying up large while in the US :niceone:

much to the horror of the sprotsters.. they're getting very popular, and are also getting very well made with the new engines and the like.

Also note that they were 'the' childhood dream bike of this middle aged (read : large disposable income) generation.

So it isn't a surprise to me that they've made record earnings

Yeah, but the new engines dont sound like harleys! They sound like a jap bikes.

I wonder if having full ownership of Buell has had any impact on the sales as well? It would be interesting to see what volumes of those are going out the doors. Nice to have an option for those who like HD but prefer something with more oooooooooommmmmmmmppppphhhh :rockon:

talking to a guy yesterday who is trading in his Electra Glide Ultra Classic for a brand spankers CVO Glide Ultra "oh and yeah Im getting some motor work done on it"

a very very expensive bit of kit, and he thinks its good value.

He refused to buy me an XL1200R though.... :( or to buy one and let me ride it.
