Well, my band is off on tour down the north island - we are heading to Napier this Saturday (22/10/2005) to play at Odin's Inn, Napier.

:headbang:

Weather looks great for the weekend, so SlashWylde and I will be riding down. Anyone and everyone who wants to come along for some or all of the ride should feel free to meet up at any point along the way (suggested meeting places?) and join the road train.

The plan is for bikes to be ahead of the band gear vehicles, with meetups and regroups at various points along the way. The support crew cages and van will have room for cameras, gear, and whatnot if you want to take stuff on the ride and not be encumbered by it outside the rest stops.

Pace will be up to the individual (will be many stopping/meeting places to regroup) and will somewhat depend on the crowd, but i have no issues with riding at newbie pace, and will not be constantly breaking the speed limits.

Remember you have an extra day of rest this weekend, so why not meet up with us somewhere, come drink and be merry and meet other KB'ers, and watch some bands too!

I have a feeling there will either be 0 interest in this or heaps...we'll see i spose :bleh:

And already i stuffed it - forgot to say we will be staying overnight (the band and support that is) - motels seem cheap and available over labour weekend but this will probly change fairly quickly during the week! :niceone:

So the planned return is Sunday 23/10/2005 - again, anyone feel free to join up for any part of the ride back!

I'm our drummer! If you guys turn up around soundcheck then hXc could well be useful :niceone:

We (my band is no-state - www.myspace.com/nostate (http://www.myspace.com/nostate)) will only be playing less than an hour show, there will be 4 other bands as well, giving us lotsa time to hang with KB'ers during the night!

I'm always keen to hang with other drummers, we can all stand in a circle and drool together....

Q. What do you call someone who hangs around musicians all the time?
A. A drummer

Update on the motel situation (cheers MSTRS)

"Friday is our anniversary day so Hawkes Bay gets 4 days off"

So best to book sooner rather than later.....

I heard the answer to that question was the lead singer . . .

Wont be coming along, but have a great weekend guys, hope the ride and the gig both go well.

ermm interesting.... what road you plan on going via?

might be a mini day challange in it self.

Auckland -> Maranda -> Kopu -> Waihi -> Tauranga (204km) -> Whakatane -> Gisborne (301km) -> Napier (213km) ...

over 718km in one day.

Was think more of SH's as we need to get there in 1/2 a day - it's about 400k using the highways but on the day if a diversion onto more interesting roads looks like fun then it'll happen...on the way BACK we might reverse your suggested route :devil2:

Hey Allun. I'd love to come down and help out/bash away :doobey: :bash: You are right, it is always fun to stand in a circle with other drummers and drool. Great minds think alike, I guess.

A guy walks into a shop and says, "Can I have a couple of picks and a set of strings, please?"
The man at the counter says, "Excuse me?"
"A couple of picks and a set of strings, please."
"You must be a drummer."
"How'd you know?"
"This is a fish 'n' chip shop."

Why do guitarists put drumsticks on their dashboards?
So they can park in the handicap spaces.

Sweet as hXc - we can do the usual drummer thing and trick the bass player into loading out most of the drums while we chill in the (hopefully!) sun. :devil2:

I've found the best way to do things is to say that you need to set up.... that way everyone else carries the heavy stands etc hahahaha. Backfired once when someone dropped one of my cymbals :crybaby: :crybaby: ...

Hmmm bit to far for me especially if it's gonna be sh's have fun though

I just get the olds to carry mine. And I set it up. Perfect plan :niceone:

I have a huge cymbal bag to protect mine. Originally $70 - Got it for $30 but definately worth whatever you pay. Holds 8 cymbals and my Studio O-rings too.

Yeah and then tell him to come over to you at soundcheck and whack your china (If you have one) really loud, right beside his ear. They love it - Trust me. If he threatens to smash you then throw drumsticks at him :doobey:

Looks like there may be a grand total of....... ONE ...bike coming down. I may have to cage it for logistical reasons :slap: Shoulda been a bloody flute player instead of a drummer!

I was hoping one of you lot heading down there would spot the messages
re the road conditions. Go here and click on what areas you want them from..
I clicked the whole lot.

http://www.police.govt.nz/news/media/subscribe.html

Yep that plastic bag will do the trick... keeps the cold out plus any rain that may get throu the jackets.

I hope to head down that way in mid November...
