Hello fellow KBérs.
This thread is so anyone going somewhere on any given day can post up an impromptu ride (decided this morning, going to Rotorua)for example. Which I am today!
Name a meeting point and a ride off time, show up there, wait till your ride off time and RIDE, hopefully with another rider or 2 who saw your IMPROMPTU RIDE Notice.

Today.

I am in fact heading to Rotorua, down thru Tahuna.
I will be riding off from the KFC Carpark at Bombay at 10am.
Happy to have company, come along, enjoy the ride.
Brunch/Lunch probably at The Big Cow, my local!

Hey it works!
On Ya wraith, hope you get a response or 2.
Enjoyed my solo ride to Rotorua yesterday, down thru Tahuna, stopped at my Local, The Big Cow, said Hello to the owners, had a Non Alcoholic Bubdaberg and a nice squid entree. before continuing on to Rotten Rua.
Not a lot of bikes out in either direction, traffic was minimal, though heavy out of Dorkland and down to the Tahuna turn off, after that not much at all.
Only not so hot occurrance was a female push bicyclist riding three abreast who quite deliberatly rode out closer to the centre line to prevent me overtaking them, or to push me across the road on a blind creting corner, BITCH!
I have no idea why and I didn't stop to ask, no time for these road ants.

well, at 3pm I will be leaving the Botanical Gardens in Manurewa.

I'm going to go and find the Auckland Tagorama Tag.
Can't see any reason why this can't be accomplished with any number of riders, gives us a chance to get together and put names to faces and enjoy a bit of a ride around the city.
A good day for that I reckon as most have left it!

So, to get there. Heading South from Ak City on the Southern Motorway.
Get off at Hill Rd (Exit 451).
Turn Left, then the first Left into the Botanical Gardens.

I will be there as close to the main building entrance as I can be. Red, white and Blue Nonda Africa Twin.
Fluro Yella Helmet.

Will leave at 3 pm sharp.

See here, come on you newbies, and those Oldies who wanna quiet pootle in the sticks.
Come have some fun.
Here are the details.
South Auckland Thursday Night Ride (SATNR)
Event location
Auckland - Papakura City
OK, this group of riders has meet and ridden together, since September 2006!.

The meeting point is.

The BP on the Southern Motorway just past the Papakura on ramp.
We meet in front of the Autobahn Cafe, next to the Mc Donalds.
Anytime from 6pm onwards.

Ride off is at 7pm.

We have a ride leader, who considers the proposed route and leads us at approx 90K's ph, or as conditions dictate.

We also have a TEC (Tail End Charlie) who makes sure as many as started a ride finish it. They also look out for our less experneced/younger riders.

Riders and bikes are many and varied, skill/experience levels also vary and our slowest/least experienced riders are usually positioned in front of our TEC, this ride is not a race meeting, we operate a policy of telling all who come along that they should simply ride their own ride. If this means their pace is less than the group, the group accomodates and that becomes our crusing speed.
The older, more experienced riders are happy to offer advice and in a general way, point out alternatives to the younger/less experienced amongst us, with a view to making their rides more enjoyable.

Our rides always have a destination, usually decided on the night by the attending members.
The destination is usually a place where food, coffee or a quiet drink can be found, no one is enouraged to drink and ride.
The group ride ends at the destination. Everyone is responsible for making their own way home, though quite naturally often the ride continues or groups travel the same way back and continue to share their evening with other riders.

Most SATNR riders are older guys, some girls, none of our usual members are speed demons, we're more interested in having a quiet pootle in the southern Auckland countryside than road racing or seeing who can do the stupidest thing ever, so come along, see if it's for you.:brick::scooter::scooter:

How good is the SATNR?

I used to go on the Thursday night rides from Westgate a few years back but doesn't seem to be organized any more.

As I've said in previous posts, it's always a good night out, not a lot of speedmerchanting, just good old fashioned enjoy the ride, have a bit of fun.
Worth a look man.

Well guys and girls of the FBMC, this Sunday (the 9th of August 2020) appears to be relatively rain free day.
In the interim I'd be keen to ride down to the Monavale Blueberry Farm/cafe for Lunch. https://monavaleblueberries.co.nz/
Anyone who wants to come along, meet up at the BP On the Southern Motorway at Papakura, for a 10am ride off.

To anyone here in KB reading this post, please feel free to rock up to the above starting point, make yourself known and feel free to ride along with the FBMC.
This is a beautiful destination and lunch will be epic.
Plenty of room to park safely and amazing food nd refreshments.
