Sheepskin covers

Have noticed quite a few bikes with these sheepskin seat covers. Can anyone tell me where to buy one.

Jokes... you could probably make one if you bought the sheep skin covered it tight and stitched up (and got somone good enough to do it ;) ).

It wouldn't suit all bikes though remember.

Try before you buy Smoggie. I got one cause pillion was kean. Made no difference as far as I could tell.
For the GC I had packed what Lee had suggested, some of the large size bubble wrap for when my butt couldnt stand the seat any longer. Well the bubble wrap never came out. Not saying my butt didint feel sore mind :)

I agree with Warr - the sheepskin cover I brought (from Charmans in Napier www.charmans.co.nz) offered only a minor improvement in comfort. The real problem I had with my seat was it's shape so changing the seat was the answer in the end.

If you want to try one....

Go to the salvation army store and get a used one. Short (tight) nap ones used to change babies on are best... Last one cost $8. Adds about 30 mins to ride time.

Depends on the fitting of your seat, I can just tuck mine under in a few places and bungee on the back.

My skin came from the bargin bin of a sheepskin factory. I had the bike with me and they had no prob with me trying out a few. It cost about $50 and is as fluffy as they come :-) Once fitted i just cut off a few bits that got in the way.

Unless you are on your way home, a wet sheep skin can be a pain in the butt. Worse if it doubles as a pillow on a camping trip.
If it rains you want to be able to get it in a bag (pack and save works well) and out of the wet asap. You don't want to be pulling off your seat in the middle of a downpour. Ties that go under the seat may make this difficult.

If you are doing a few km's on your sheep skin then when you stop for gas tease your fingers through it to give it a but more life. After a few thousand km's it may get really matted. If it does then take it back to somewhere that makes them and ask them really nicely to put it through their teaser, it will come out like new.
