We all know that in a cage, if you dip your lights the beam veers off to the left, (in NZ). So if importing one they need to be changed to pass compliance.

Does the same apply with a bike? I've checked mine and there is no discernible change in direction between High and low. Can someone who has imported a

bike from a right hand side country shed some light? Ta muchly...

Motorcycle lights are supposed to dip to the left , same as a car in this country .

Same requirements for bikes. Height and dip to left. VTNZ etc will put the bike through the light box at WOF time.

I am almost certain the beam pattern on my motorcycle (BMW) and one of the Jeeps does not dip to the left or right when dipped. Both beams are factory OEM, fairly recent models and passed through new warrants. As far I know, it's not supposed to go to the right. It can stay horizontal or dip to left for us.

But I'm not a WoF guy, just an average consumer.

I seem to remember people mentioning they had to change the headlight unit with imports ?

Meh, should be able to change it in software soon.

High time we swapped over to the correct side of the road like bikes changed gearshift all to left. Guess it all came about due to us being enslaved to the fuking poms and their dreadful cars.

Course should wait until I'm too old as I'd hate to have to change.

When we have fully autonomous vehicle fleet we wont need sides of the road. Or lights.

Not really. It's always been a possibility, but a very remote one. We were almost on the way about 5 years ago, but were stalled by visa problems.

Only got those sorted late last year and by that time couldn't afford to. And as far as bringing a bike back, despite the fact that many brands are built or

assembled here, it would still be cheaper to buy in NZ. (KTMs up to 390 Adv and some 790 models are built just a short distance from where I live but even

they are not much cheaper than NZ prices).

motorcycles from a left-hand drive country dip to the right. And yes they DO need to be changed ...

On the Headlight issue ... I think it was Aussie that brought in the "ONE headlight at the front" rule .... pissing off a few Ducati owners who had one Headlight for dip and one Headlight for High beam on some models ...

If you were to bring a bike (or any vehicle for that matter) back ... bring back something you can't get here ... :msn-wink:

Funny you mention that, only a week ago I posted this pic of the Ozzie spec 916 to a FB 90's suberbike group I belong to. Mostly Europeans and they were shocked at what had happened. But they in turn introduced me to what the Swiss did to the GSXR750...and RC30...

Thought about that, but what about the parts issue?

Bring back to sell for an exceedingly outrageous higher price ... as is the Kiwi way ... :devil2:

Parts are then not YOUR issue ... :msn-wink:

Depends are you heading norf or souf?

heading towards someone or looking at vehicle coming toward you?

do assymetrical lights need to change side?

Why?

The lights on the front and back of motor vehicles have been called headlights and tail lights for well over 100 years.

Admittedly, after some clever crunt came up with the idea of taping a torch/flashlight to his/her head to keep hands free has created a new subject for the

term, but that doesn't change the fact that I was referring to said lights at the front.
